When adopting a new puppy, is it easier for an 8 week old puppy or a 3-4 month old puppy, to adjust to a new home? Why? How long does the adjustment period usually take? Thanks in advance!

Doesn't matter.. Dogs adjust easily .. that's their nature.. Dog's take about 2 weeks to fully be accepting of their new home / owners and learning the new routine and rules.

It all depends on the dog. But usually the adjustment period is not too long. We brought home our puppy at 9 weeks and he only cried for one night. The second night he was blissfully and quietly asleep.
You can always help the puppy adjust by placing a ticking clock above the crate during the night.

It depends on how much socialization the 3-4 month old puppy has received. By this age, if it hasn't been well socialized and exposed to lots of people, places, and things, it may have behavior and temperament issues. 8 weeks is the ideal age to bond with humans and begin a strong socialization program. I strongly recommend Dr. Ian Dunbars book "Before You Get Your Puppy" and "After You Get Your Puppy" to all potential dog owners and to people who have just bought a puppy. It's a wonderful little paperback written by the man who first introduced puppy training to the world. It will answer all puppy training/behavior problems.

It is all up to the puppy. Many factors come into play. Just think how you would feel if you were taken from your family. Give it lots of love, and attention. The puppy will adjust in no time.

That depends a lot on how the puppy was treated. If a 3-4 month old puppy has been beaten down and abused by it's former owners it will be skittish and not trusting. The poor little thing will be scared to death. Which means it will take a little longer for them to adjust to a new home.

A neat little trick to bonding with a puppy is when it licks your face don't scold it. Instead give it a little treat to eat. This is especially true of puppies who have been abused and mistreated.

The reason for that is genially encoded in k-9's i.e. dogs, wolves, coyotes. lick their mother's faces to entice their mother to up chuck food for them.
When wild K-9's have puppies their mothers hunt kill the prey eat it and when they come back they up chuck what they have eaten for their puppies to eat. And their puppies signal to her they are hungry by licking her face.

it is good to adopt 8 week old baby because if get them when they r young ,they adjust soon .i.e.about 5-6 days.
but if u bring a 8 month old dog it takes about 2-4 weeks to adjust.

I got my first dog at 9 weeks and she adjusted very well to our new home-she was a lhasa apso. I got my current dog, a shih-poo, at 4 months and she bonded with us pretty quickly too, but it did take her a little longer, I think she had formed some pretty bad habits already but we were very patient and consistent with her and she is the love of our lives now.

it depends on the dog. if the dog is a very small dog you might want to get it at 3-4 months.because they go through period where they will forget to eat and their blood sugar will go down and gradually go off even in to unconsciousness. and can sometimes die from it if you don't catch it in time and sometimes have to force feed it to get it's blood sugar up.
Other dogs that are going to be big you get them as soon as they are off of their mom and start eating hard food most of the time.

Every puppy is different but you might not go through as much separation anxiety with the older pups..

This relies on you being able to be a replacement parent or mom when you take them young...if you can teach all that mom would have there is no difference.....assuming the mother was able to complete her role from where ever you bought her..
