Not all hair straighteners take for ever. Get one with ceramic plates, and with a temperature adjustement. You can even get some that go up to 200 degrees! If you really can't find one, when you first get out of the shower, towel dry your hair then use a straightening cream through your hair. I like Avons Advanced Techniques line of straightening products. Then, slip up your hair as if you were making a half pony. Blow dry the bottom straight, then continue with the top. If you want it to stay straight all day, curl the bottoms in slightly, so it's hardly noticable. It will also add movement, so that it doesn't look like you took forever to do your hair.

I know you didnt want to flat iron, but if you get a good one like GHD it litrally takes couple of minutes, they are very hot ceramic plates, so you smooth over very quickly. Use a heat protector spray too. As for salon straightening, they perm it straight, but if you have a wave, you may get wavy roots b4 the perms runs out.

It takes some time but I apply frizz ease and then comb my hair straight periodically until its dry. Takes about 1 hour from start to finish. Any serum that isn't too heavy will be strong but light enough to keep your hair straight until you wash it again.

firstly, from experience, i suggest you DONT USE ANY GELS/BLOWDRIERS/HAIRSTRAIGHTENERS! instead, ask the salon to "thin" out your hair slightly. this means adding layers to reduce the thickness at the bottom. Secondly, i suggest you consult someone who deals with natural products to offer you something,. trsut me
