If they have access to the whole thing they should be very happy in that cage. Just let them out every now and then so they can steal your stuff. My ferret was a candy whore and stole socks and toilet paper

The cage in the pic would most definitely not be good for a chinchilla, because of the wire ladders and bottom, their small fragile legs would slip through and would easily be broken. I have 2 chinchillas, and they have a metal cage with plastic removable trays for easy cleaning, but they never touch the wire, the trays are on top of the wire. On the other hand, not meaning to sound like a butt hole, but chinchillas do not in most cases like to be held, and yes they do run fast, and they can jump 5 feet high. I would not recommend the cage for a chin, a ferret I am not sure either. Good Luck

No, ferrets should not be kept in any tanks, and neither should chinchillas. Both need huge cages for exercise, and a 10 gallon with a wire topper is not "huge". It is fine for a hamster. If you really want another pet, you're going to have to invest in correct caging.

Ferrets no and chinchilas no. They both are pretty big and that cage looks very tiny. You don't want to torture them with a tiny cage and no space to run around in.

Well I think it would be great for a smaller ferret (which are usually the ones sold in pet stores). The bigger ones (like the ones Petco gets every now and then, from private breeders, and the ones that come from Breeders right off) however would find the spaces to get between levels a little uncomfortable. Not sure about chinnies, because I have never owned one personally.

no, I don't think the cage is big enough for either and you probably don't want to use aquariums with ferrets or chinchillas. You might consider rats though they make excellent pets and they'd be fine in one of those.

I think chinchillas prefer to have horizontal space. Rats and ferrets are good in this cage. Very nice cage by the way.

Chinchillas actually don't like to be held, for the most part. I love them (I have one myself) but they mostly just like to run around, sit on you, and stuff like that. That's not to say they're not affectionate, they just aren't that cuddly. Also, they need vertical space, because in their natural habitat they like to climb and jump around.

This cage has pro's and cons. The cage style for a ferret is PERFECT except I think you should get one that is wider. Here is one, http://www.petsmart.com/global/product_detail.jsp?PRODUCT%3C%3Eprd_id=845524441777055&FOLDER%3C%3Efolder_id=2534374302036906&ASSORTMENT%

for chinchillas, I don't think that cage would work
