Where ever you are getting your information on Catholicism - STOP. It is a grossly unreliable source.

Let's start with sex: All single people are called to celibacy; no sex, period. Sex is meant to take place withint a marital bond only, not outside the marital bond. Sex between spouses is not sinful, provided a few moral details which we will get to in a minute. And, obviously, a married people cannot have sex with anyone other than their spouse.

Artificial contraception: The Catholic Church defines sex as the total self-giving of one spouse to other; the two flesh becoming one, and which is open to the possibility of new life.

The use of artificial contraception prevents the act from being "total" in it's self-giving, and also closes it off to the possibility of new life. This is immoral, and a carnal insult between the spouses I might add.

Catholics can drink coffee and tea. There is nothing immoral about that.

Alcohol consumption is morally acceptable as long as it is done in moderation. Abuse of alcoholic substances constitutes an immoral action because it is disrespectful to one's own self, and it puts the health and well-being of the self and those around them in danger.

Abortions are Absolutely Unacceptable. Catholics believe life begins at the moment of conception. This would mean every abortion destroys the most innocent of human lives while they are still inside what should be the safest place in the universe for them - a mother's womb.

Hopefully, you have learned that the list may not necessarily be as long as you think it is, and that there

Swearing: Otherwise known as "taking the Lord's name in vain" is a sin.

You say, <>

What do you interpret as "being wrong" as far as behavior goes?

Sex is a Sacred act; the consumation of a marital union. Catholics/Christians are often viewed as hating sex or being against sex or something like that. On the contrary, Catholics/Christians so revere toe sex act, that it is meant only for those having received the Sacrament of Holy Matrimony.

As for why suicide is immoral, you have to be kidding? Do you not see murder as being immoral? Suicide is murder, the murder of one's self - an act that is contrary to self-love.

Don't try justifying any forms of murder, such as abortion or suicide. Once you've justified one form of murder, all of them will eventually be justified. Nothing good can come from that.

Um, some of your list sounds like Mormons, not Catholics.

Catholics can drink alcohol, coffee, and tea. They are encouraged not to use contraception but instead family planing because they believe that life is G-d's will, not their's.

They do not believe in abortion, because they believe that the life inside the womb has a soul. It is seen the same as murdering a person outside of the womb. Especially since most abortions are preformed when the baby both has a heart beat and can feel the pain of the procedure.

Catholics can have sex within the confines of marriage. There are many reasons why they do not have premartial sex - especially since it is viewed as a sacred gift from G-d.

Catholics actually have a lot less restrictions on their lives then other groups, such as Baptists or Mormons. Catholics see sin as it is defined in the bible. Just as they are told to do by Jesus.

I'm thinking you have heard a lot of information from those without any true knowledge of the Catholic religion. If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me.

Sexual intercourse outside of marriage is wrong. The reason is because marriage is a sacrament, a holy union. It must be open to total self-giving, and to life. The sexual act is the physical expression of that loving union.

Suicide is a sin because it is self-murder. Life is a gift from God. It comes from Him and belongs to Him. Therefore, we do not have the right to intentionally take life of our own accord. We are obligated to protect and defend the life God gave us, as well as the lives of others.

Contraception closes the sexual act to life, which is why it is wrong. It sets up a mental attitude that we dictate when life does or doesn’t start, not God.

Abortion is murder. It is the murder of an unborn child.

We are perfectly free to drink anything we want, alcohol, coffee, tea, etc. Like anything, it should be done in moderation. A person can develop an addiction to anything, which is why alcoholism is bad.

Hope this helps. God bless.

Don't be so silly! Catholics aren't Mormans! Of course they can have sex (just inside marriage). They can't use contraception. They can drink alcohol and tea and coffee. They can't have abortions. The contraception and abortion things are complicated but effectively it's because they believe that life begins at the moment of conception and also that the primary purpose of having sex is procreation. Most Catholics are a little lax about these rules though.

Where did you get your info? Before you ask a question why don't you try a little research? Catholics can have sex but not before marriage!! I think this is totally exceptable as you should not have sex until you are in a steady relationship, completely comfortable with someone and in love!! I don't know what makes you think that Catholics can not drink tea or coffee, this is just so stupid that someone in this day and age actually thinks this!! And yes we can drink alchohol and swear - you dumbass!!!!!!!!!

Where are you getting your information? I'm Catholic and only part of what you said is true. We can have sex, but it has to be between two married people, and they have to be a man and a women. We can't use contraception, because sex that is not for getting a women pregnent is lust and is sick because it shows that the people can't control their sexual desires and don't want to be bothered with children. We can drink alcohol, but not enough to get drunk. We can drink coffee and tea. We can't do abortion, because that's murder, because it's still destroying a life. Also, we can't masturbate, because that's also lust. We can't be gay because that is the grossest thing ever and it's unnatural and two guys or two girls can't make children and that's the whole reason God made an attraction between man and women. We can't look at porn because we can't watch people do sinful acts. We can't join in other religous practices besides our own because the others are false and lead to hell.

lol they are catholics....though all religions have guidelines. Some of what you wrote is true more or less. Contraceptives are looked at badly and such but a lot of what you wrote is a misconception. I am agnostic but grew up catholic so I have a little background in it. I have found it better not to talk with them about it as they don't have answers to most questions. I suppose this is why it is called believing. If there is a reason other than curiosity that bothers you like problems with a bf talk to them personally. You could also try talking to a priest and ask your questions truthfully. He or she (wait they removed that during the middle ages) should be more than happy to help. Good luck and may you find answers to your questions.

The Catholic church abounds in rules yes that is so. But Catholics have become very adept at bening the rulesto suit their own purposes and then of course thereis alwaysconfession......clean sheet etc.........used inappropriately. If I sound cynical it is because I have witnessed first hand extreme examples of this and asto can't do this or that........soemhow this is tossed aside when the notion strikes. BUT the self same then can (having confesed) take soem kind of high moral tone with mere mortals.

I was a catholic before and sins are wrong coz they dont help people or society to be happy and live better...well sex out of marriages causes prosmiscuity, loneliness and diseases, single mothers, kids with no fathers...

and when this kids grows up without the attention and paternal love they keep resentment...so this is why most of them will be uncapable to buid long term relationships and families. They didnt have the example of commitment, trust, and loyalty

when somebody drinks degrades him self and make his body sick. Coffee alters ur system and ur mood and can make u adictive. People can work long hours while drinking cofee, but still our body needs some rest and this is something we have to respect...

Abortion has to do with the right for babies to be born and to be loved, and also with our responsabilites...if everybody starts to avoid responsabilities then how this society is gonna end??
