Somebody asked me this question and wanted to know if it's b/c they dont like the color of their skin..and if some of them don't like black people why do they want their skin darker?????
This isn't my own personal question, i dont have a problem with people tanning...I'm asking this question for somebody else..so i would appreciate if nobody gets ignorant b/c i'm not the person who really wants to know this!!!

Most whites have no problem with black people, so that has nothing to do with how whites view themselves.
Simply put though, pale white skin is just unattractive to most people.

The friends that I have that are white tan because clothes look better on tanned skin. It is not a racial issue but a issue of appearance. My friends tell me they love my complexion because I am light skinned (afro-american). During summer months it is not unusual for white people to tan. I even know of several that go to the tanning booths during winter months.

it is a good question i think it is the same thing as why do people want to be unhealthily skinny. I think it is a look they want to have that seems attractive in the media's eyes..

I have news for you, black people tan or sunburn, just a little longer. My friend and partner was black, they went to the beach in Vegas and, fell asleep. There five year old in the meantime and them, all got a severe sunburn and the five year old had to be hospitalized. So?
