Did you know that you're lying through your teeth?

Doesn't the fact that you have to lie so much about atheists to defend your belief system give you doubts about the quality of that belief system? It should.

Oxford dictionary definition "religion": (1) the belief in a superhuman controlling power, esp. in a personal God or gods entitled to obedience and worship. (2) the expression of this in worship. (3) a particular system of faith and worship." Non-Theistic definition: "The word religion has many definitions, all of which can embrace sacred lore and wisdom and knowledge of God or gods, souls and spirits. Religion deals with the spirit in relation to itself, the universe and other life.

No aspect of this defines an atheist or their beliefs. If you were to say I "serve" someone, I serve my family, I serve myself, I serve my bosses at my job. None of these is a supernatural entity, and serving any of the above does not constitute a religion.

Atheism is the freedom from religion.

I think of religious people as being those who try to establish a right relationship with God by doing good deeds rather than trusting in the finished work of Jesus Christ on the cross (the Atonement) for the forgiveness of their sins.

By definition, atheists are not religious because they do not believe in anything of a supernatural nature.

I think your wording is throwing people off. I think what you are trying to say is that everyone serves someone, whether it be a god, jesus, or themselves. But serving yourself does not mean you see yourself as a god, which is the point you are trying to get across.

Religious Atheist is an oxymoron.

True Atheist do not believe in a higher power...period.
True Atheist do not believe in God Almighty, Jesus Christ,
Heaven, Hell, Allah, Buddha, gods nor goddesses or any other Supreme Being...period.

They believe only in themselves.
They live...they die...The end.

I serve the god of food. Beer, corned beef, extra sharp cheddar, beer, kosher dills, rye bread (with caraway seeds) horse radish, beer, crawfish, crabs, shrimp, beer, fried mullet, blackeyed peas, cornbread, collards, beer. Did I mention beer? Well, that was what I had for dinner. This makes me religious? Maybe pagan? It is time for brunch. Signing Off Raymond H.

Am I correct in inferring that you define religion as "serving someone"? Then if everyone serves someone (which I doubt), everyone is religious. How would atheists then be more religious than other people?

Oh boy, you found me out,

I serve dead babies -- hard boiled-- to my fellow atheist house guests. The only problem is figuring out the best blood to drink with them, type A or type O.

The we go out and destroy the moral fabric of society.

Nope. Sorry to fracture your vision of the world, but I do not serve same otherworldly mythological figure. I serve myself and those that are dear to my heart. If more people focused on their immediate surroundings instead of what may of may not happen when you die, we just might get heaven on earth.

Not really. Ultimately, we all serve ourselves.

We each are born, live out some kind of life, more or less to our liking, then die. Our lives are not for anybody else to live.

God is a superstition. Jesus, if he existed, is a dead guy. When you say you are serving them, you are really just serving yourself, but attributing it to imaginary people.
