I don't think it's funny at all. I think it is downright scary and disturbing. about half the questions I come across here are by kids under the age of 15 asking how they can lose weight FAST. 'I'm 13, 5'2", 115 lbs. How can I lose 20 pounds before school starts in two months? How much weight will I lose if I don't eat for 2 weeks." I feel so bad for these kids. It is not about trying to get healthy. It is all about living up to the media's standards of what is attractive. Poor kids.

Its just society these days. The media puts so much pressure on being thin and healthy. I think alot children also listen to their parents talk about wanting to loose weight. I think its sad and that those children will grow up with low self-esteem. Simply sad.

It does not start from age ten! It starts far earlier than that. I think what kids today are doing to their bodies is a crime perpetrated upon them by obsessed parents and an obsessed media.

Check out this question from a mom who thinks that having her daughter die of a heart attack from hyperthyroidism would be preferable to having a fat daughter. Not even a fat daughter. A heart attack would be preferable to her daughter just gaining weight.

They NEED to be concerned about their health and eating right and excercising and personal hygeien and all that stuff but they don't have to OBSESS over weight. If they eat healthy and excercise then you don't have to worry about weight.

in many ways I think it's very disturbing. to me it seems like the majority of those that are concerned with the body-weight are obsessed with the sizes of clothes and numbers on the scale (or the BMI) and on not being actually physically fit and healthy. many seem to think that there is a correlation with being thin/skinny and healthy and that is simply very inaccurate

it is not good for them not to eat properly
they are also seeing the programs on the TV likely that show a lot of obese kids and it scares them into getting too thin
