I don't know - I pray to focus on specific problems and thereby increase the energy to form solutions. Also to thank GOD for all the miracles given that day. But I pray constantly throughout the day also.

Speaking to God IS praying. Just like thanking God IS worship. They are the same thing in Christianity, it's just in the early times officials and people like that wanted to use different terms to show special reverence to God. And to a certain extent that reverence is still useful today, except some people have forgotten that speaking/praying and thanking/worshiping are the same things, so they need to be reminded (or taught) their equivalence every once and a while.

I believe it is good to pray physically as well as mentally. Prayer, to a sincere believer can be a powerful tool to keep one close with God. A physical manifest such as lowering the head or bending the knees with a sincere thought that what you are about to say is for God only is recognized by God as an act of submission and that is the crux of believing, isn't it...to submit to God?

Ditto all the posts about your constant mental prayer being a good thing. It keeps you centered on God. If you dedicate some of your time to Him totally, though, you have a better chance of really communicating at a deeper level, don't you think?

That talking throughout the day can also be seen as prayer. Prayer helps to put us to align our will with God's will.
