I want to know if this concert is just entertaining or truly impacting people. I am most interested in people 12-24 and would love if you could include as much detail as possible

I'm letting my SUV idle in my driveway. All day. Just on the basis of general principle.

The "Live Earth" concerts host the greatest concentrations of hypocrisy this planet has ever seen. All of the stars are going to be flying in on private jets, or chauffeured around in private limousines, and lodge in some of the largest air conditioned suites available in their host cities. An incredible amount of electricity will be used for no other purpose than creating a grand spectacle for the ticket-buying suckers. Tens of thousands of gallons of fuel will be burned in order to transport the audience, the concessions, the merchandise and the equipment to the various venues. And afterward, there will be literally tons of paper and plastic waste to be picked up and dumped in a landfill somewhere.

And this is supposed to be "good for our planet"?

GREENPEACE and FRIENDS OF THE EARTH have been trying to push home these problems since the 1970's but have received a rather slow public response. Sir Peter Scott was involved in conservation work in the 1960's. One of the founders of the World Wide Fund for Nature (formerly called the World Wildlife Fund) formed in 1961, and designed its panda logo. His pioneering work in conservation contributed greatly to the shift in policy of the International Whaling Commission and signing of the Antarctic Treaty. Yet over 40 years later we are still struggling to save animal life. If people wanted to save the planet we wouldn't need events like this. People gave half-hearted interest then and are STILL giving the same half-hearted interest now, in a few months it'll be back to normal, exhaust fumes polluting the air, detergents polluting the rivers . If people really wanted to save the planet they would give up their cars for a start, and stop making excuses why they need one.

And before you hand over any money for these causes:
Remember in the mid-1980's BAND AID? Well, the public handed over their hard earned cash (Which many well off musicians, actors, politicians took the applause and credit for.) and raised around £60 million, mainly for Ethiopia? Which the UK Conservative government under Margaret Thatcher taxed.
Then between 1981-1985 Ethiopia spent at least $2 billion on arms. And then in 1985 Live Aid, the multi-venue rock music concert raised around £150 million (approx. $283.6 million.) to further aid Ethiopia.
As has been pointed out many times, this is why some countries allow these plights to happen, because sooner or later those countries will receive financial aid.

Well, I am trying to recycle again since my city is finally behind this Idea once again. I was very green 20 years ago and then my City really stopped many of the recycling programs. It is really a great cause that these Stars want to help but the real person involved in this battle is Al Gore. Start by buying energy saving light bulbs. DO NOT BUY BOTTLED WATER order tap water at a restaurant and a slice of lemon. Do not turn your air conditioning on until you can not take it anymore. Walk where ever you can or bike. Take public transportation. Turn the lights OFF Car pool if you must drive. Cook homemade meals. Plants as many trees and flowers and greens as you can i.e. Grandma's house, in-laws, etc. Talk to your teachers and school and ask that they have a green day awareness event. Have clothing drives, Feed the hungry.
There is a start for you. That is were I started. I also try to eat organic when I can purchase this it is best for everyone. All farmers and stores should demand this all else is poison to us and the earth and life in general.

No.... I would rather stick my dangly bits in a blender than watch a stupid propanganda concert put on by a bunch of money grabbing hypocrits posing as hairy-bottomed enviromentalist do-gooders. The concert will have about as much an effect on stopping global warming as strapping an oven-ready frozen chicken to the air filter of an East German Trabant would.

It doesn't have anything to do with any concert and I'm not part of the younger group.

I plant trees, grow plants that are local natives, and I share what I grow with all the animals around. I avoid using pest or weed poisons. I recycle and reuse and try to conserve resources as much as possible.

As a New Yorker, I am proud to live in one of the greenest states in this country. I think Live Earth is an excellent alternative for raising awareness within the younger generations. I am considered one of the rare few college students that actually cares AND does something about it. Most importantly, I practice what I preach.

This includes...
-using a laptop instead of desktop
-compact fluoresent bulbs
-recycling
-making my own reusable grocery bags
-buying organic products
-using public transportation

The thing is that you don't have to go crazy about "going green". If you feel comfortable just recycling, fine! It's better than nothing. Every bit helps and it is up to everyone whether or not and how much they want , and willing to contribute.

I'm watching it. It's great ! I'm going to help the enviroment by turning off the TV, and just record it to watch later. That way I won't have the TV on for as long, when we do watch it. We will just FF through the commercials! We already drive a re-cond. 85 Honda. We recycle all we possibly can. We pay that little bit extra to get 'GREEN POWER' from the electric co.!

I am 21 and I have not watched at all and would not watch it either. I think that it is like live aid and live 8 acheives nothing in the present or near future what so ever and that money really oes not solve everything. If you think about it the concerts wasted so much non-renuable energy that they actually should not have done it as that could damage the environment more

I am sitting here watching it in front of my window air conditioner, but its succeeded in making me AWARE which is its stated aim. Specifically, I am aware that the participants have grown up since the 70s and have no idea that nuclear power even exists.
