Yes, if you think about a certain thing long enough in the day, you can pre-program yourself to have a dream about it. I really love NFL football. When I think about it alot during the day, I know I will have some kind of dream about football at night. Also, if you are watching a t.v. program and fall asleep while watching it. Your dream will form the pictures of the t.v. show while you are sleeping and hearing the words subconsciously.

You are talking about lucid dreaming, which is the ability to control what you are dreaming. The first step in this is to be aware when you are dreaming that it is in fact a dream. Then you will be able to have control over the occurances in your dream. This is very hard to accomplish! The best advice I could give you is to try during a daytime nap. Pay attention to outside sounds while asleep... dog barking, people talking, lawn mowers etc. that you know were happening before you laid down. If you are still hearing these sounds in a "dream" you can try to determine that you must be asleep. The hardest part is not to wake up! Then start deciding what you want to happen next... Good luck!
