My friend just told something that she really should have kept private to everyone on facebook. I am so embarressed for her right now. Why do people do that? Do people not have morals anymore?

We are talking about facebook. Not only is your name in the profile but most people have pictures. And you can link to people you know or dont know. And the stupid thing will update everyone on your friends list when you have done something on facebook. Like post a note, which she did.

christybitencourt- I have grounds to be embarressed for her. Dont judge the situation when you dont even know what she said. She shared something that if anyone is comfortable sharing they need serious help. Fortunatley, I think she's just a douche bag.

Well it must be something very personal that she shared. I just hope she wouldn't get too comfortable with sharing info. that should be kept private. You never want anyone to be able to hold anything over your head. But that's kind of mean of you to call her a douchebag.

People don't think before they do things. And with facebook any little thing that you do is posted so everyone can see what it is. Whether if you wrote a note to someone, or made a lude comment, everyone has access to it, and this is the main reason why I stop talking to people on facebook. I don't know why facebook decided to make that change last year with everyone knowing your business, and you would think with the complaints people made, they would have just revised the old site, but they didn't. Who gives a damn what this people did, or said to that person? Really! You would think that it's a safe site because it deals with schools, but hey, what can you do?
I hope your friend overcomes with what happens and never post her business again. So as a friend, be there for her whatever way you can.

It is because people feel a need to let things out. When people hold on to dark secrets they get eaten with guilt and feel a need to clear the air and start fresh.
I don't want to promote any one religion, but I'll give one example of how some people deal with this.
Catholics try and hit this need head on by having the sacrement of confession. Only one other person heres the sin and he never talks about it. You do the act of contrition and boom it is water over the damn.
In my opinion, that is much better than airing your durty laundry on Oprah or Facebook.

Well, it's simple. She can express herself without feeling ridicule. OK, yeah, so she's sharing all her info online in public forums...and what? If she feels comfortable "sharing" such as she does, then why feel "embarrassed" for her? Just because you wouln't do it, doesn mean that she shouldn't. A "moral" issue doesn't exist here. I think you're more worried about this than she is.
Be a friend and don't judge, my dear...

Because we can do so... anonymously.
If no one knows who we are, we can air out dirty laundry without the possibility of being known.. of course, if your friend is telling all of this stuff and everyone knows who she is, then well.. she's either an open book or a stupid bird.

Ok, I know exactly who and what you are talking about. I am uneasy about posting pictures of my baby online, so I definitly wouldnt tell people something like that. But to each his own. Maybe, you should tell her that somethings are better left private. Nowadays, some people dont know where to draw the line.

You know what? I share your view. Some people treat myspace like its some sort of showing off business. Little do they know that what they are doing is being viewed by peeps of all kinds. I especially find the ones who post naked pics as very bizaaaaaarrrrrre.

Same syndrome as reality TV. I feel as embarrassed for those who show all on those programs. Makes no sense to me: a person might feel an emotional high by letting it all hang out for now, but a few years later, will they still be glad they exposed themselves so publicly?

I share a lot more on here than I am able to in the outside world. No one knows me on here. It's safe to voice my joy or pain. There is no one else. Maybe I'm not the only one.

It is very arrogant and judgemental of you to be "embarressed" (you mean embarrassed) by your friend. Also, you think your friend is a douchebag...I think your friend needs to find a new friend.
Friends stick by each other, support each other and even tell each other off if needed and still should be there for one another...something you apparently are not doing.
