Help, and Pingy got it right. I'd bet he's going to want to be alone at times, let him be, when he wants to be with you he'll come to you. Don't pressure him or ask anything of him. When he does hang with you, he may just sit and not talk, just be with him. When he's ready for more he'll let you know.

Just to stress what has been said before, UNDER NO CIRCUMSTANCES ASK HIM WHAT HAPPENED IN IRAQ OR WHAT HE DID. After a few weeks however you can just say , hey, bill(or whatever his name is) if you ever want to talk about your service I'm here for you.

Best wishes to you both, and please pass on my thanks to him for his service. God Bless you both and God Bless America.

After the first day or two of meeting everyone the parties etc, remember he will need some down or quite time in order to readjust from continually being on guard, to a safe environment. This takes time and understanding. Do not push him into telling you what it was like, if he feels he wants to he will, then be there with love and understanding. He has literally been in hell and is coming home from there. As a former vet myself, my many thanks to him for putting his life on the line to protect our way of life. May GOD bless.

Good for you! Seriously. Just enjoy the day together, maybe go out and just celebrate his homecoming if he's not tired. (I assume he is rested) If he is tired, maybe you can just let him enjoy time with his family and make his day as relaxing as possible while spending quality time with him that you missed while he was in Iraq. I'm sure he'll love it.
