She is getting ready to give birth. Phone your vet and tell him that she is due, so that he is aware that he may be on call. Remove all bedding, and put lots of newspapers down. (I hope you got a huge supply in!) You should really have made a whelping box and got her used to it, so that the pups can be put to one side as she gives birth to the next. There can be up to one hour between pups, but they usually come much faster than that. Check each pup quickly after she has cleaned up after it.......she will eat the afterbirth ......make sure the pup is okay, and which sex it is, and give her the pup back. Move the pups out of the way as she gives birth to the next. I move mine under the pup shelf, but if you don't have a whelping box, just keep them out of the way gently as she turns around for the next one. Hope all goes well. It is frightening, exciting, and beautiful. :-))

Yes, it is normal. But to be honest, you should have researched what to expect long before now. Have you researched what complications to watch out for and what the symptoms are? And what to do if labor takes too long, or if there is too long in between puppies. A person who breeds their dog needs to be responsible enough to educate themselves on what they need to know to make sure the dog in not endangered in the process. My suggestion is to have a vet on call since you do not know what you are doing.

Your dog is probably either having a false pregnancy, and having contractions, or she is just early, make sure that she is very comfy, and that she is not being disturbed, unless it is by one person at a time, they do like privacy, or they can get distracted. Good Luck

Sounds like she is getting ready to deliver her babies. Just watch her for any type of complications. And if anything arises you feel isn't ok, call the vet immediately!
