Ferrets are Very playful and active creatures. They get extremely anxious and can actually injure themselves if they dont have a playtime partner for most of the day. In order to own a ferret you need to be around, or have someone who is around in your house, to give them a Lot of attention during the day.
The best answer that I can give you is buy another ferret. They are excellent play partners for each other and will have a blast running around and playing with each other inside and outside of their cage.
Most pet references push for you to have 2 ferrets if you arent going to be around a lot to ensure that they dont injure themselves from boredom, and 2 ferrets really are not much more work then having one.
A ferret is one of those animals (like many kinds of birds that tear out their feathers if they dont get enough attention) that you really shouldnt own if you dont have time to keep him happy, active and healthy.

Every body enjoys company! Get him a friend, either another ferret or even if you already have a cat or small dog, ferrets love to play with them, mine always played with my house cat and they were good buddies, the only thing is that you need to introduce them while the cat is young, or Else it will have it's own hunting instinct. Also i wouldn't recommend leaving them alone. Another thing you could do is check out eBay! they have lots of ferret play houses and toys, you'd be surprised what ferrets like to play with! I would really recommend another ferret for him to buddy with! Then they could both play together. I hope this was a little helpful and good luck.

This is why you have to have time before buying the ferret! Every ferret needs 4 hours of out of cage time!! This is because you want their bones to develop properly. I would suggest buying a second ferret with a HUGE cage {at least 4 floors} so they can bond. Or if maybe you have a bf or husband that comes home earlier, then have him take the little rascal out to play!

I had the same problem so i got him a companion then i got another and another and another and another so now i have 5 ferrets and i only let them out when i clean their litter but i also got some dryer vent tubing and they all love it.
P.S. Ferrets sleep an average of 20 hours a day so even a little time out of the cage is a great help or even when you clean his cage or litter.

You could buy a friend for him, but then he would bond to the new ferret rather than you. Just make sure he has plenty of toys and play with him when you get home. Ferrets usually get along well with cats too, that may be an option as a friend for him. Good luck with your pet.

Make sure he has a large cage and plenty of toys. Ferrets sleep a lot all day, so don't worry. When you get home make sure he has plenty of time out to play and exercise and spend time with you. You could get him a buddy, they like company. They will still be friendly to you.

get him a friend, ferrets are social. two ferrets could play togther when they're bored. when i had 2 ferrets they always played together, and they were best friends. but when the male died of cancer, the female was very lonely and kinda wandered around looking for something to do, even when i tried to play with her.
and then when you are home, let them run around in a room, or play with them.

Buy him a buddy ferrit, or if you dont have enough money, then get it a big enough ball to roll around on, or some other toys!

make him a large cage with bedding on the floor that he can burrow in, buy him toys (ie. balls, ferret hammocks, squeaky toys, stuffed animals) things like that, and try to play with him as much as possible. if you can afford it, buy him a friend!!
some ferrets like mazes, so if you can find one, let him run around in it (they like treats to)!
they sleep a lot at day, so find somthing for him to do at night!

give him lots of toys to play with and change his toys every day so he doesnt get bored with old toys. ferrets love to roll around in towels and clothing. they like to crawl through tunnels and sleep in hammocks. give him balls with bells or treats inside. give him stuffed animals to cuddle with. you can make a lot of fun toys at home with almost anything you have in the house, be creative!
