It's not just Dell or Vista that has done this. My Sony Vaio XP came with a trial of Office 2003 that deactived itself after a very short time because I refused to pay for the full version. Instead I loaded Office 2000 on my computer. You can get either office 1997 or office 2000 cheap on Amazon and they work just as good as 2007. Microsoft is only trying to make money off of you by forcing you to buy their brand new version

Usually, they will come free with another office suite of some kind. But, you have to pay for the different versions of microsoft office. You will have to upgrade the trial to get real office. At the time of purchase you have the option of picking a version of office, but it is optional, since some people like other suites, or do not want office and do not want the higher price. Sometimes the Student Home editions of office are well within range. You are not going to find office free. That is how microsoft makes their money. Ha.

When you ordered the computer you needed to purchase the full version of Office pre-installed. Since you didn't, they only installed a trial. You will need to purchase Office separately, which is about $150 for the home and student edition.

That is Microsofts way of getting more money. Your best bets are to go to Google and search up an office suite called OpenOffice, it has the same programs you find with Microsoft Office, but it's FREE! I recommend a DSL/Cable broadband connection because it's a fairly large download, almost 100mb I believe, but it's worth it! Hope this helps!!!

Microsoft isn't in business because it gives thing away free, it's in business because it's products are stable and you have to have a license for each program to run it, unless you know how to hack them
