If you roll a pair of dice, there are more combinations that lead to getting the number 7 than any other number.
That is why the number is lucky. Put a little emphasis like that on a number, and some people forget why it was important to begin with and start looking for some significance that isn't there.

"Liber 777" by Aleister Crowley is the most detail. But let's be brief. Any number tripled has a synergistic effect far greater than just adding or multiplying. Because a triangle is the strongest, most stable two-dimensional form. So 777 is not merely three times as powerful as 7, nor even 7 x 7 x 7. It's more like 7 to the 7th power, to the 7th power. Way strong. I'm no mathematician, and too lazy to put my pocket calculator to the task, but it's a huge number.
Now why is 7 lucky? Read all the other answers for that. I hope you agree it is more than simply the most common role of a set of properly made dice. It is the seventh sephiroth, for example: Netzach, which corresponds to the Goddess of Love. Venus in Latin; Aphrodite in Greek.
How much further can I go without giving away esoteric secrets? Perhaps I have gone too far already.

Well, I just found a website that describes the number 7 as this:
"There are many 7 references throughout ancient religion: 7 sacraments, 7 virtues, 7 sins, 7 petitions, 7 'gifts of the spirit' - wisdom, understanding, cooperation, strength, knowledge, holiness. Seven is associated with the moon and therefore a number of reflection (symbolically from the reflection of sunlight from the Moon. Overall the implication is that this is a magical number; the person or thing referred to may be mystical and 'all-knowing' or desiring knowledge beyond all other things. A completeness which is gained only from true insight, but at the expense of an inward focus, aloofness and isolation. This completeness is symbolized by 7 as well as 3 and 9."
Honestly, I think that it's 777 stands for the number 7 times 3. For me, the three would be the Holy Trinity.
At 11:11 am--close your eyes and send love out to the world at large. Let's see if we change it just a teensy bit. ;)

God created everthing in 6 days & on the 7th day God rested. One guy was told to dip in the river 7 times & the 7th time he came out with his leprosy gone. 7 times the people marched around Jericho & the 7th time the walls came tumbling down. There are the 7 eyes of God, the 7 Churches, the 7 Spirits of God, the 7 candle sticks, etc... So 7 is associated with resting in Christ, gettng the blessing (healing, the increase, etc.) Also the fulness of something like the 7 eyes of God are how God completely sees who hearts are toward the Lord. Or the 7 Churches is really the fullness of Gods Churches.
So? Today is a really special Sabbath. As Sabbath is the 7th day. And it is the 7th day of July today. And the weather where I am at is in the 70s. And it is 07/07/07 today. I believe we have blessings coming in today. So, also there are many weddings going on today and also many going to the casinos.
But the blessing, the rest, the fullness, the increase, etc. is a gift of God on this special Sabbath.
Rest in Christ this Sabbath.

The devil's supposed number is 666, referred to in Revelations.
Since Seven is the higher number, it is generally used to refer to God.
Mankind's number is Five for some reason. Presumably since it is lower then six and seven.
I think the Little People's number is four, but I'm not sure.

read revelations- 7 churches, 7 golden candlesticks, 7 seals, 7 trumpets, 7 spirits, 7 stars, plus 7 horns, 7 eyes, 7 angels, 7 thunders, 7 crowns, 7 plagues, etc etc etc 7 vials, 7 mountains, phew! i think its pretty significant. =)
ps- 7 by itself means complete, but 777 as asked is just a triple deal. 777 has no mention but i just wanted to list all 7s in rev.

No magic except what people want to attribute to it. The number signifies fullness or completion in scripture.
