I don't see how you can consider an article about 7/7/07, that is 777, and not mention the book "777 and Other Qabalistic Writings of Aleister Crowley" or "Liber 777," the book which was written by Crowley and to which this more recent work published by Samuel Weiser, Inc., refers. Did the writer not know, or did the editor insist we were not to know anything serious about the magical value of the number 777?

The writer probably did not know.

The editor probably would only have gotten involved if the Boeing 777 was mentioned (we couldn't have a 777 fall from the skies on 7/7/07 in area code 777 now could we?).

Most people consider such as superstitions. Luck is not logical. How can one believe in Luck without being aware that one is not in total control?

Most people might give reference to 7 as lucky because it is the number obtained as the sum of numbers on opposite sides of a six sided die (and for that reason is the most likely number to be rolled).

The luck of number 7 predates dice (which are very old). The information in Crowley's 777 includes materials going back to Egypt and before. The book itself has been banned in many locations.

I read this, this morning, and now in the afternoon, I think I'm ready to answer it. I don't know. He brought a lot of attention to the plight of the 'older' religions. He also went a bit odd in the end. Why he got into a sort of satanic version of paganism I'll never understand, as satanism is a reaction to the Christian Religion and not a real pagan religion, as no real pagan religion believes in hell and heaven, devils and demons, quite the same way any Christian would. Usually pagans don't believe in the concepts. I think he probably needed guidance and couldn't find it. And of course on not finding it, created his own way and beliefs.

I don't think we're meant to know anything serious about the magical value of the number 777.

The only reason 7 is lucky is because it is the most likely number to get when rolling 2 dice.
Aside from gambling, I wouldn't worry about it.

777 is a magical day indeed. TheBear got killed by the Yahoo God and resurrected in less than 5 minutes. If its not a miracle, I don't know what else I should call it...

Guess who's back... back again... TheBear's back... tell a friend :-)
