Unless you exercise the first thing in the AM, (in which case you will burn more fat) You should eat something small before going to get your metabolism working. What do I mean by something small? Something with either complex carbohydrates (for energy...wheat breads or cereals, an apple) or another type of fruit that contains natural sugar: I recommend a cocktail of one grapefruit, one orange, and one lemon juice. Excelent source of natural sugar for energy and vitamins.

After you workout, especially if you do cardio, your body is in fat burning mode for like 15 hours. That's why you can eat more afterwords because it is metabolized more thoroughly and quickly. Eat lean protein to feed the muscles you just worked (especially if you lifted weights) this will help in your muscles mending and reformation.

So its simple: something really small and healthy for energy before (about an hour before) and slightly larger portion including lean protein afterwords.

I think after... If you eat before, you would have to support the foods weight too. This might be a good thing actually, kind of like weights, but its common belief to not exercise right after you eat. When i was eight-nine years old, i exercised right after i ate (Hula-hoop, its fun ^^) and I had cramps... Not good.. But maybe eating a light meal would be good. Just make sure its not a buffet or something..

From what I've read, both. If you are hungry before you workout, carbs will give you energy (just make them healthy- a piece of fruit works best). Afterwards, some source of protein is a good choice. Protein is needed to repair muscle tissue, which develop tiny tears when you workout (during strength training especially- not sure about cardio).

definitely after 1 hour of working out . take a strawberry shake before and after. to build muscle use whey before working out and after use casein.or 2 glasses of skim milk
