Dale Earnhardt Sr. used to "rub" the pace car every chance he could get, especially if he was in a very good mood. The reason being..........a very dear freind of his was driving....Elmo Langley, a former NASCAR Champion. Coincidentally, Dale was riding with Elmo in the pace car at the Twin Ring Motegi road course in Japan, when Elmo suffered his fatal heart attack. Dale had to grab the steering wheel, and stop the car.

Also, I did see an ARCA race, where the leader absolutely PLOWED the pace car. Totalled it out. Almost killed the pace car driver. I can't remember the track (Daytona or Talladega), but the caution had JUST come out, and the pace car pulled on the track, and went directly to the middle of the groove. The leader didn't have a chance to slow down, and thus NAILED the pace car.

That's so funny, the ol' Nascar joke for a driver who has ummmm how do I put this nicely.Oh well a JPM type day. Is he hit everything but the pacecar.Sr. among others never wanted that said about them so they would "bump draft" the pace car.Want one funnier then hitting the pace car? My bud Jeff was cleaning his tires by moving back and forth and hit the wall!!!!!!!.Now that was funny,of course after a lil time went by.

Dalr Sr was notorious for bumping the pace car. Stewart does it a bit too. Cope accidentally bumped the pace car cleaning tires, (what a bonehead...) I'm sure there have been others. Nobody's actually taken the pace car out, tho. Come awful close in the pits.....

I think Earnhardt Sr. bumped one in 94,I believe it was at Dover in June, Earnhardt was involved in a crash and was coming around the track to go to the pits, the pace car was coming out, saw him and stopped at the edge of pit road where Earnhardts rear tire brushed the 25th Anniversary Trans Am pace car in the right front bumper as it sped past.

Several have, Earnhardt Sr used to do it because he could...lol and Smoke (Stewart) does it often when he is in the lead to "say hello" there have also been others, nothing serious though to my knowledge seems it has all been in "fun"

Not that I know of. I'm with Scoob on this one too. Just give Montoya the chance and he'd wreck the pace car.
