Is Islam a threat to the West..?

I might say that I am not realy hurting any one, but I want to know why everyone, especially the western countries, are up against Islam in one way or the other. Let us discuss it on this forum. It is open for every one.

No Islam is not a threat to any one. It is the most loving and peace full religions that mankind has the opportunity to embrace. Those who think that Islam is a threat to them are misinformed.There are those people or what are known as the fundamentalists who unknowingly or deliberately have projected a wrong image of Islam, for whatever reasons best known to them.These people are found in every faith,and merely on account of them that faith can neither be considered a threat nor labeled so.
Why can not we the people on this mother earth live in harmony,peacefully and forget our differences, after all we are the descendants from Adam and Eve only.

Its all the MEDIA!

The Western Media has caused the west to believe in their point of view, and only giving one side of the story blinds the people viewing: that is almost everybody. The Media has forced its viewers to believe that Islam is a violent, bloody, intolerant religion, but in reality this is actually the opposite. If people would stop accepting their television sets as their teachers, more people would know the actual truth about Islam. The Media reports misleading stories, gross exaggerations, inaccurate information, and false statements about Islams and Muslims to undermine the religion, and unfortunately, this propaganda is a success--many many Americans believe everything they hear on the news or read in the newspaper. What they fail to realize is that what they read/hear is only one point of view of a bias Media that has been criticizing Muslims with false information vigorously since 9/11.

Terrorism is CONDEMNED in Islam; it is not allowed. Neither is innocent murder, or forced conversions. These are all misleading fabrications composed by the Media. You can't always believe what you hear.

Terrorists are not true Muslims; they use Islam as a mask to cover up their dirty work, and give Islam a bad name. It is not fair for the majority of Muslims, who oppose terrorism and denounce violence that is occurring. Unfortunately, the Media will never let this be known, making it look like Muslims support these radical actions, when in reality they absolutely do not.

Islam is a threat to the West just as much as the West is a threat to Islam. That would what someone from a 3rd party prespective might say, that both sides are dangerous for similar reasons.

Historically, the Islamic civilization posed the greatest military/political threat to European countries for a number of centuries.

Culturally, some in the West also felt a threat in past centuries, because Islamic civilization was more advanced (it was Europeans' exposure to advances in Islamic science and philosophy that helped generate the Renaissance in western Europe).

And theologically, Islam represented the most articulate and most widespread alternative to Christian thought.

But of course in the last couple centuries, it has been European domination and colonialism that has been a greater threat to Islamic lands than vice-versa.

Nowadays, Westerners, especially in the U.S., just tend not to know enough about other cultures, so when a few extreme fringe people do horrific things, many fearfully assume that that is representative of a culture they really don't know much about.

If you had a good understanding of Islam than you wouldn't believe how misguided these "Islamic" extremists are. Islam is a peaceful religion and grossly misrepresented in the media. So to answer your question, no Islam is not a threat to the west. Terrorists who use Islam as an excuse to committ heinous crimes are merely a nuisance to the west.

Since something that happened the 11 September 2001 in New York city to a couple of towers, a weird building in the shape of a pentagon, and to some other places, certain people in western countries are not pleased with islam. I wonder why

Islam is not a threat to the West or anyone else; people who are oppressed and politically motivated USE Islam to justify their points of view. They have strayed from the path of true Islam and are no longer surrendering to Allah. But Islam itself teaches us to live in peace if at all possible, with very strict guidelines for times when we face the reality of war.

American media, however, chooses to portray only the negative actions of Muslims across the world, not the actions of the peace-loving, sincere submitters to Allah. And I think the media is largely controlled by groups who have a personal interest in making Islam out to be a violent religion.

May Allah guide the ummah to stop the bloodshed. Ameen.

i say definatly, i really think the way we are united and believe in one god is really getting on people's nerves, and the fact that some people know that islam is the right religion but are ignoring it. the media has set out an example to the people that muslims are terrorists and that they will do anything to kill poeple, but as much as they repeat it we really don't get offended b/c we believe that islam is the true reigion and don't care what people think, so islam is definatly a threat to the west!

of direction that's a gamble. Islam has at its center the dominance of all mankind. So something that takes human beings from Islam is to be performed away with via rigidity. meaning u.s., England, Israel, Australia and a few different places.

You have to realize that very few Western countries, as a whole, dislike Islam. There are always those crazy nuts who hate anyone who isn't of their religion, but the rest of us don't care what you believe.
