Good reliable brands are Panasonic, Sony, Samsung, & Pioneer. If you want top quality picture then an HD plasma or LCD is the way to go. You will also need to subscribe to HD programming from your cable company (usually $10 a month) plus upgrade your cable box to a HD box. Top of the line TV's come in 1080P. Which is the resolution. The higher the number the better. Remember, when you go shopping the TV's will be always be in HD to show it off better. You will not get this quality picture for regular television. Ask a salesman to put on non-HD programming to compare because most of the time you will be watching regular TV.

Everything I have read and referrals from people who have made that purchase==the Sony brand is at the top---Also, told that to get best in every area, it is worth it to have place where you make the purchase to have someone come out and professionally do the installation, especially the connections to Sat. TV- and Cable, etc.
