Because they don't know any better. Ignorance means not having all the information that you need in order to make an education decision.

They've been fed only one side of the story, or see things from such a narrow perspective, that they simply don't realize how little they know.

When I was in JH and HS I believed a lot of the things I was told as "fact", and it was only as I grew older and became exposed to alternate viewpoints that I began questioning some of the things I was told were definitely true. I also got accepted to Mensa and began to receive their monthly bulletin summaries of science journals (the REAL ones, not the "Scientific American" 8th-grade types). I'm also really into a lot of cable TV channels like Discovery Science. And it's amazing how much you learn, that flies directly against the stuff you've been told to believe as truth.

I'll bet 99 out of 100 of the people watching Live Earth don't even know what the Oceanic Genome project is, for example, even though it's uncovered AMAZING facts about how the climate actually works on a micro-genetic level. Or how the moon is directly responsible for climate modulation. Or how solar emissions directly affect the climate. Or how the magnetic fields in and around the earth affect the climate.

So they are just ignorant, but unintentionally so.

Remember, most of the people who cheered Hitler were equally ignorant of his grand schemes as well. He promised to rescue them from an utterly abysmal economic collapse, skyrocketing crime, corrupt businesses, a decaying infrastructure, poor health care, and corrupt politicians. Hey, who wouldn't be for all that? Seig heil! It's only when they learned all the facts that they started to realize they'd been scammed, and learned the true price of their ignorance.

dear bob, you answered it yourself. its because they are young and have not experienced enough to realize they are being brainwashed. I'm older, a nurse and once i was a target. i was abused by my husband at 18yrs of age. i was raised differently. the night i got married he slapped me and because i was young i thought he loved me which was not love at all. i stayed he even made me tell him i was sorry for making him so mad he had to do it. he was abused i learned later. i went to school for 4 years and took PhD. then went to be a nurse. i went to a Dr of mental health and got well and left his ***. he was sick. it took a great many years i hid this from family and friends for a great many years. he almost killed me on several occasions. i was fortunate to have woke up before i was a statistic. young are exactly that young and inexperienced. not stupid just easily influenced. peer pressure to fit in and be wanted and excepted. targets we all can be at an early age of many different things as we want to trust and seek to be trusted and wanted and excepted. so this is my point of view on this matter. we all learn as we go. some learn some never do. that is why education and knowledge is always A good thing. your friend shiznick2u2 7-8-07 thank you for reading.

It is natural instinct to respect elders to some extent. Otherwise there would be no family to support them. Unfortunately this instinct goes beyond family, and so children have a trust in others that can be to their disadvantage. Con artists, such as political and religious leaders, have been taking advantage of this since the beginning. It is up to those of us who can see, to open their eyes.

Because they're idealist and naive.

Once they get out into the real world, those tend to be crushed and people become more conservative.
