Rebecca, you're not making any sense. Someone who hates god obviously believes in god -- therefore, someone who hates god cannot be an atheist.

RIF: How very charitable of you.

Babydoll: Just because you look at him differently, that doesn't mean that _he_ is any different from the person your daughter was dating a few days ago.

When you really think about it, someone who denies the existence of God does not start foaming at the mouth when someone talks about their belief in aliens or Santa Claus or ghosts or anything else that can't be proven to exist or not. They only start frothing at the mouth when someone suggests that God might be real. This shows that not only do they believe in God, but that they believe in God to the point that they HATE God because He exists, which means that on some level they have a moral obligation to behave in a way that is pleasing to God.

Because the atheist HATES God, he cannot say that there is no God, and therefore, an Atheist does not 'really' exist.

This is such a good question. My daughter is dating a guy with whom I did not know his religious background. It has been a couple of months since they have started dating and I kinda liked him. It just came out last week that he is an atheist. I could not believe it. It shocked me to know he did not believe and now I know i look at him quite different. I am glad I know because I needed to know. Although I have not persuaded my daughter in any direction, I would hope that she sees this for herself because I have raised them in a house of God. This has always been an issue due to the fact that my brother is also an atheist. He seemed to believe as we were growing up but when he went to college to work on his Bachelor's, he took a class that required some type of religion. He started second guessing God and had questions about proof. When we all discussed the proff that od did indeed exist, he still did not believe. I do think that in some cases it is wise to know if a person believe or not. I do not want my daughter to have children with an atheist because she is a believer and I want my grandchildren to be believers also!

If any of the believers here would like to obliterate all evidence of my existence, I'll tell you the secret of how you can achieve your desired result:

Just pin me firmly to god's apron and you'll never ever hear, see or experience anything from me again.... If you're successful, I won't be found even in the smallest, least significant portion of the universe.

A.) I am not interested to know who the atheists are. I respect one's religious belief or lack of it and I treat everybody, whether christians or atheists, the same way they treat me.
B.) I am aware of the growing numbers of atheists and that does not bother me because my faith in God is so strong that I firmly believe that in His time, He will show mankind that He is our one and only God.

Whether I believe their mind-set exists or not, they do. So does mine. As for why they are atheist, everyone is entitled to one gigantic mistake in life, I guess. Just keep the willfully ignorant misunderstanding of God's Infallible Word out of my way. Like a freight train, I will run it over and never look back.

I live in reality....
If a person chooses to not accept God, then that is what they believe. If I get the opportunity to meet this person and become friends w/them, then I will try to seize it and let them know why I believe in Jesus.
I would not shove it down their throat but be a good listener and hope that they can see God's grace and love through the Holy Spirit's work in me.

Why would somebody think atheists don't exist? I'm not following your line of thought. And nobody has to wonder why...they seem pretty open about telling everyone why.
What's your point?

If I have a friend, it doesn't matter what religion they are. I wish we could stop judging people on religion and start accepting them on a person to person basis.
