i currently have vista ultimate as my os and i want to try linux


can anyone tell me how i can burn linux to a cd ???

You can ask Ubuntu to send you a distro and Canonical will send it. It is nice to pay for shipping or help the others out.
You can 'burn' or copy almost any Linux,that is Non Microsoft, to any CD,DVD or Digital Drive.
Load the boot.ini to what you prefer and all set.

ISO files are CD / DVD image files, that contain a description of what the disk should look like when duplicated.

Do U know Linux is of 10 GB so it is only a way of compressing it with the best compressor. Have a nice day.

download the .iso , verify the md5 / sha1 checksum values , use a application like nero or alcohol 120% to burn the .iso , simple
