They aren't looking to accomplish anything. Despite what people think, we are not trying to convert you. We aren't trying to place literature that you won't read (If you aren't going to read our literature, we'd rather you just politely tell us that you are not interested). And we don't have a quota of doors we have to knock on (Everyone does what they can). We are just following Jesus's command at Matthew 24:14 and Matthew 28:19,20. Look those Scriptures up in your own copy of the Bible.

Far be it from me to put words into the mouths of Jehovah's Witnesses. They can speak admirably for themselves. I can, however, answer both Qs from the more objective point of view of someone who wishes they would not stay away from my door, but knock on it.

I see their purpose as two-fold. They believe they have been commissioned by Jehovah God to declare the good news of the kingdom to the world. As they believe they are the only religion that correctly understands this good news, only they are doing this work. As soon as the whole world has heard this gospel, Armageddon will come, then the paradise earth that they are longing for. Their second purpose is to honor God's name (Jehovah) - to witness to him being the only true God. Their whole lives revolve around these two things (or, they ought to.)

They are looking to win converts who will be baptized as JWs and be saved through Armageddon, with them, to live forever on a paradise earth. But even if nobody listened to them, they would continue to preach, as a warning, so that nobody could say to God, "But you never told us..." I hope even the JWs will agree that that is fair comment.

Alas, as they refuse to come to my door, I cannot show them from their Bibles that they have misunderstood what the Bible's gospel is; that they have misunderstood who Jesus is; that they have misunderstood how salvation is acquired; that they have misunderstood the sanctity of blood. But they're never going to come to my door, so they'll never know (from me, anyway). Unless they email me.

Hi there. What they trying to accomplish is to help you understand their religion. They really believe that their way of interpreting the bible is correct and they just want to share the good news with you. Remember they not getting paid to do this. They do all this out of the goodness of their heart. Trying to "save" as many people as possible.

So please don’t be rude to them and I sincerely hope you not taking these other answers seriously. They good people that do great things in there community. All they want is for you to listen to their message that’s all. They def not trying to brainwash you in anyway. Trust me its not easy going from door to door having people slam the door in your face.

I used to go door 2 door to check out all the hot azz! Seriously, no matter what the j-dubbers will tell you it is a marketing thing. In the end its all about beefing up the numbers to keep that almighty dollar rolling in. Here is where all the dubbers will try to discount what I just said and tell you I do not know what I am talking about. To let you know I was once a Ministerial servant(basically someone that helps the cult's elders) and in charge of the accounts for my congregation. In the end its all about trying to SCARE you and TERRORIZE you with their doomsday talking and tell you that you will DIE if you don't become a member of their cult. (sounds like they took a page from the US Government. Just trust us. Blindly follow us and be SCARED!!!!) It is all horse hockey and I kick myself everyday for spending 20 years of my life spreading that vile garbage.

They believe they are trying to save you, because they believe that only JWs will be saved when Armageddon comes. At the same time, they believe they are saving themselves because they are doing the work that Jesus commanded his disciples to do in Matt. 28: 19, 20. Their salvation is based on the "works" that they do. They don't believe the way that mainstream Christianity does, that we are only saved by God's grace and faith in Christ's atonement. To them, that is not enough to save us.

While I completely disagree with the practice of sending a couple of teenage brainwashed "witnesses" door to door through every community on the planet, I do understand their purpose in it. The JW's are doing what they thing their God wants them to do, spreading the word of their religion and trying to convince the masses that it's the right way to live.

That being said, it does annoy the hell out of me. I've found that if you, just one time, invite them in to your house and prattle on like a crazy man, they tend to avoid your house after that. Foaming at the mouth is a clever technique.

purpose of being a jehovah's witness is pretty much the same as any religion. the door to door thing is them trying to convert you.

we do not change anyone religion. that has to be between you and Jehovah God. we are doing what Jesus Christ commanded us at Matthew 28 verse 19 and 20. remember that Jehovah did not change his mind about living forever on a paradise earth that Adam and Eve lost. learn what Jehovah Witnesses are about at www.watchtower.org. people who turned there back on Jehovah God and Jesus will slander us.

Especially since they also think that only 144,000 of them will be admitted to Heaven.

You would think they'd try to keep the membership down so that they'd have been odds of making it.
