I grew up watching my mom work a full time job and still make homemade dinners every night for our family - amazing! My grandmothers were also both big cooks, so I was always surrounded by food growing up. Then I married a chef, and he is who taught me a lot of new tricks and tastes. I guess this is all why I love to cook - food brings people together, ya know? - and I learn a lot on my own through experimenting with different foods and recipes that I find on websites, in cookbooks or from friends. So I am kind of a cooking mutt...learned a lot of different things from a lot of different sources!

Both my parents were busy at work when I was small, I had a few anunties uncles who always baby sat me and I saw how my anuties cook and started to be very curious about cooking.

Later, my brothers and sister were born and my mom turned to be a full time housewife, then, I learned how to cook simple food from her and also I had to attend the home economic classes at school. Actually, mom doesn't like to cook much, but my dad loves cooking. I also got some hints and tips from my dad too. After all, these are training for preparing Chinese food. I also like to bake cakes, prepare western food, roast chicken or baked pizza in the home economic class for fun.

I'm now having some basis cooking skills and learning new tricks from my aunties (they are real good cooks) to prepare expensive Chinese ingredients - like shark's fin, abalone, fish mam, bird's nest, ect., and hope that once I can improve myself to be as prefect as they can. To answer your question, the persons are my aunts.

I guess I taught myself by watching my mom and sisters cook. And watching Tv shows like Martha. When I made my 1st cake it came to me naturally on how to make it. I just immediately got how to do it and I was proud of myself. I started cooking when I was about 11 0r 12. And now that I m 3 yrs. older than that I m know more nd I m teaching my self. I just get the ingrediants and start to work. and I enjoy cooking.

Interestingly, I think, I learned the most from the Food Network. My Mom originally taught me to cook, but I never learned about the spices that make up other ethnic foods. I appreciate that my Mom shared her tips with me while young, and I definitely enjoy food more, but I love watching people with different styles and different tastes cooking. It expands one's viewpoint.

I AM LUCKY! My Mom taught me the basics and my Mother in law taught me the art of preparing a fine dinning experience with a properly set table and a four course meal.
