Well I'm not sure about your grandson but when I was a kid I was diagnosed with an exposed vein in the sinus cavity and later with a dieviated septum. Must have gone through a dozen pillow cases a week for years. Also the climate in the area you are at can have alot of influence in the nose bleeding situation. A hot dry climate can dry up the sinus and cause it to crack like sun baked mud. Try an over-the-counter nasel spray that will moisturise to help in any irratation

A few things can cause nose bleed. Allergies cause the nasal passages to dry out and will crack the delicate blood vessels in the nose. If a person begins taking an allergy medication this will cause drying and bleeding. Sometimes a kid will poke at it or blow too hard. The best thing to do is take a cotton swab with petroleum jelly (not a lot) and swab the inside of the nose with it. Do this every day for a while and they should decrease. The petroleum jelly keeps the membranes moist and protected from breaking. Hope this helps.

Nose bleeds can be caused simply by stress , heat or a trauma to the area. If a nose keeps bleeding after simple remedies like cool pack, medical advice must be a responsible choice, I have known rare but possible cases of blood conditions in peoples genes to cause constant heavy flow of blood very serious and life threatening. I am not a doctor but seek advice by a reliable practitioner of medicine.

Blood vessels in the nasal cavity are really close to surface, and tissue thin and delicate. Sometimes they rupture. If they get too frequent, the doc can cauterize the area. It is not serious, lots of kids get this and it doesn't hurt them a bit. It just looks bad and ruins some shirts and pillowcases.
