If you ask on this site if everybody goes to Church, the majority will say no you don't have to and they still say they are Christian. I go to Church every week and most times 3 x a week and our Church is full every Sunday so I think the thing is people will say one thing and do something totally different

Both things you said are incorrect...not all churchs are nearly empty every week, and not "everybody" attends church regularly.
My church is always so packed, they had to double the size of the building in this past year.

The general population of the United States all believe that they are politicians, lawyers and religious leaders, so they lie while believing that they are serving others (as well as themselves) when and as they do so.
Also, as one of my late uncles once said, "Figures don't lie but liars figure". Depending how any such poll is conducted, the resulting figures can be skewed to fit the desired outcome.
The general polulation of this country likes the "idea" of being "good, church going people" however, they don't want to be bothered by actually being such.
Each of the three major monotheistic religions teach their followers to feed the hungry, house the homeless, clothe the naked, see to the welfare of widows, orphans and the elderly, heal the sick, visit the imprisoned, deal with one another with compassion, kindness, love and honesty, etc. while not being ego centered or materially possessed.
If these "good, church going people" were doing all of this, don't you honestly believe that this country and the world would be in a much better condition then it currently and presently is?
The polls you are referring to came from the media. The media should be placed in the grouping with politicans, lawyers and religious leaders (along with advertisers, car salesmen and insurance companies) in my humble opinion.
May it all be well with you.

I can tell you that during holidays many congregations have a drop in number because people are going out of town.
Another reason is that many people also go on vacation, thus out of town and not able to attend.
Another reason that comes to mind is that many congregations because of shift in population no longer have the members that they did because they have moved away and now are going to other congregations. Also, many congregations that were very much reflective of a particular area where it is located, no longer are for the people moving into the area.
Right now where I attend, many people take off to do mission trips, work at the different summer camps, etc. that make is totally impossible to go to the local church services.

People are lying, and trying to make themselves feel more righteous.
I'll be honest, I don't attend church regularly. I go about every other week, but sometimes I miss two or three Sundays in a row.

What is your point? Church attendance is not the same as worshipping God. They are related granted, but the Bride of Christ will come from inside the walls of the churches and from outside. Some walls do contain a higher concentration. It will come from the ones who have accepted Jesus, PERIOD.

Matthew 24:12
and because of the increase of lawlessness the love of the greater number will cool off.
Jesus and his disciples were sitting on a mount overlooking the city...and they were talking....
They were asking about when Jesus would come back and about the end....he gave them signs to look for..They are in Matthew 12...
So you see we are at the end of times...and there will be a lot of people losing their lives because they gave up too soon.
