One story is as good as another in my books.

Sexual orientation is not a mistake, and by no means the "abomination" that some Christians call it.

Christians say that if you're gay, you’re going to hell but the foundation of the Gospel contains no such message:
John 3:16-17: "For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten son, that whosever believes in him will not perish, but will have eternal life. For God did not send his son into the world to judge the world, but that the world should be saved through him."
Romans 8:38-39, which says, "For I am convinced that neither death nor life…nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Jesus Christ our Lord."

But hey! I'm atheist and I just quote the scripture to remind you Christians to heed and observe your own religion.

Steve Amato: you have a wicked way with scriptural quotations taken out of context and cleverly mistranslated so that they appear to say what they do not say in literal translations.

If the Christian god exists and also created all things, even Sin, then, yes God created "Adam and Steve" as well as "Adam and Eve."

Surely you've considered this, but...Since the myth has been recorded, however, Adam is clearly male and Eve is clearly female. You can't rewrite the Bible, unless, of course, you go back in time.

Homosexuality is marginally condemned in the Bible compared to the castigation of hypocrites, betrayers and liars. Christians might have a firm case for berating homosexuals, say, if Judas was gay or there was an outright verse that said to punish homosexuals with ferocity or something to that effect... Perhaps its easier to persecute a minority of people than to turn that judgment upon ourselves, Christians and infidels alike.

Evangelical Christians, might gain some popularity and members if they cut down on their self-righteousness and built up their compassion.

Consider this irrelevant, but why not write another version of the creation story based on Adam and Steve? Now that would rile some feathers...

It's nice that you quote certain scriptures, but the Bible says to rightly divide the Word of God, and you lack the ability to do that. You must read the whole Bible. Surely you know the story of Sodom and Gomorrah? You are wrong on both accounts. You're not only wrong on what you are trying to say the Bible says, you don't even know what sexual orientation you are supposed to be. The only big bang you'll ever see is when you and those that believe the way you do are all cast into the Lake of Fire, and it won't matter what your name is, Adam or Steve, or Pervert! Try reading Romans 1:25-32.

As bieng gay isn't an illness or any of the other homophobic lies produced within this thread and the world plu sthe bible was rewrote many times then there is no rational basis for the lies about gays
Too many christians prefer to hate and to be homophobic rather then good people without prejudice

I am a Christian, but I by no means think that all gay people are going to Hell. I think that God gave us all weaknesses. We've also each been born into unique circumstances. This is why we are commanded not to judge one another, "for judgment is mine, sayeth the Lord". And personally, I think that the Lord will judge each person according to their own circumstances and understanding. Basically, how they played the cards they were dealt in this life. "For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may receive what is due for what he has done in the body, whether good or evil."—2 Corinthians 5:10
I also don't believe that this is an excuse to 'sin', or knowingly act against the Lord's teachings. We must all do our best. That's when the atonement of Christ comes in - when we TRULY act according to our understanding, he makes up for the rest.
PS - I think that includes Atheists, as well. If you are living your life in a manner consistent with what you believe in, and you are striving to obtain whatever is your ideal of good, I think that is how you will be judged. So not all of us Christians are holier-than-thou jerks, OK? (But when it comes to judging all Christians as one and the same, I know many atheists who are just as bad!)

Hey! Atheist! Here's a question for you! If you say my God, the Jesus Christ, and The Holy Ghost don't exist, then why would you say; you have been reading the scriptures to remind me? So in your twisted little mind say God doesn't exist, but his scripture does exist? Here's a reminder for you. Jesus died on the Cross for your sins, even the sin of lying to yourself, and saying he doesn't exist. Why don't you just give up! And give in to Jesus.
If this offends you and other atheists, too bad! God is real and you and the other atheists confirm that every time you read his word! Why not come to the side of right? Jesus is waiting for YOU!

"Adam" means "mankind" in ancient Hebrew. You can figure out the rest by reading history books. Translation into English changes the meaning sometimes, and this is one of those times.

"Do you not know that the wicked will not inherit the kingdom of God? Do not be deceived: Neither the sexually immoral nor idolaters nor adulterers nor male prostitutes nor homosexual offenders nor thieves nor the greedy nor drunkards nor slanderers nor swindlers will inherit the kingdom of God." 1Cor 6:9,10

"God gave them over in the sinful desires of their hearts to sexual impurity for the degrading of their bodies with one another. They exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served created things rather than the Creator— who is forever praised. Amen. Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion. Furthermore, since they did not think it worthwhile to retain the knowledge of God, he gave them over to a depraved mind, to do what ought not to be done." Rom 1:24-28

Jude 1:7 "In a similar way, Sodom and Gomorrah and the surrounding towns gave themselves up to sexual immorality and perversion. They serve as an example of those who suffer the punishment of eternal fire."

Heb 13:4 "Marriage should be honored by all, and the marriage bed kept pure, for God will judge the adulterer and all the sexually immoral."

Furthermore Jesus said concerning marriage "at the beginning of creation God ‘made them male and female.’" of which he took as a precedent for marriage

I have trouble believing that loving someone, regardless of sex, is a bad thing. I know several gay couples who are committed and give each other support, love, and caring. I fail to see how this is wicked. If we are loved and give love, we are better for it and we reflect that love to everyone we meet. If we would all accept each other as we are and spend our time improving ourselves instead of worrying about fixing what we don't like in other people, we would all be much happier and this world would be a much less hateful place.

Romans 1:25
Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.

1:26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:

1:27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.

1:28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;

1:29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,

1:30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,

1:31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:

1:32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.

And John 3:16...but you left out 17-
For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world *through* him might be saved.

3:18 He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth *not* is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God.

3:19 And this is the condemnation, that light is come into the world, and men loved darkness rather than light, because their deeds were evil.

3:20 For every one that doeth evil hateth the light, neither cometh to the light, lest his deeds should be reproved.

Corinthians 1 1 verse18
For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing
but to us who are being saved it is the power of God, for it is written:
I will destroy the wisdom of the wise
the intelligence of the intelligent I will frustrate!
