I think that being moral can be achevied without any guidance,or fear of retribution from some god. But, moraility is a broad term. Morals are defined by society and the definition only goes on for as long as that society deems them to be in their best interests. Morals have changed over the thousands of years of ( known) human history. As for this point in time there are many things that show us how we should treat others and different ideas of what works and what does not. One can find any number of ideas or ways of thinking that can help one be a good, moral, contributing member of society.
While I am no believer I have read the bible 4 times cover to cover and have read most of the koran, eygptian book of the dead and many of the ancient scholars, and the more modern scholars.
I would suggest to you to sit down and think for yourself in each situation in life. Wether you are poor, rich, sick, or any other possible situation in what way would you want to be treated by people. However you answer these is exactly how you should try and live your life.
If you think that you could be homeless and hungry and you would want someone to help you with food, or take you to a shelter then this is what you should do if you see someone in this situation. Or if when you are very sick you want someone to bring in food or give you some type of comfort then this is what you should do for others when you know they are in this situation... Be a good person because it makes you feel good and not for some reward in an afterlife or to appease some god.. Also, you must remember you are not doing this for fame or fortune. You are doing this because you would want the same treatment if you were in the same situation.

I do it everyday. And no god, dogma, or religion dictates how I live my life, which is good and happy. I work for a police department and a library, I have an AA in English, I'm engaged to a wonderful man who is the only person I've ever been with, I don't swear, I don't smoke, I don't drink, I don't do drugs, I've never gotten a ticket of any kind.

What are morals? They are just a set of rules set by society which itself is formed of people. Same goes with a dogma or a religion. Anyways to have morals means to stick to a certain set of principles. And if you ask me, Religion is just one name given to a set of principles formed by one person. So technically speaking, you can have morals only if you follow a set of principles. The so called society defined "relgion or dogma" has nothing to do with anything.

Many people are much more moral without childish tales of gods. the superior person does what is right simply because it is right, not because of childish tales of reward and punishment in the sky. Some things religions say are sins harm no one really. Many people who attend church think that giving money to it pardons them for evil deeds. My oldest sister is in church 3 times a week and gives it $50 a month, but thern she tries to cheat, steal, extort and even kill people. Religion is no guarantee of morals or ethics.

Rethink now not simply your proposal of worship however the complete proposal of worshipping God according to se.The concept of worshipping and pleasurable, even appeasing God is an concept that springs from a precise characterisation or ultimate of God that's determined in monotheistic faiths. The reality your displaying indicators of considering external of the monotheistic field whether or not you appreciate it or now not shows to me you would be extra cozy with jap religions and religious philosophy. a strand of buddhism that also has a perception in excellent being-you'll have to study that or Hinduism, Sikhism and so on.i'm speakme approximately getting to know their ideals and philosophy/strategies alternatively than changing. The system shall be enriching and informative. Zoroastrianism is a different one. believe of worship as residing a well lifestyles not more no much less. A guide I endorse is The Case for God via Karen Armstrong as this guide has a miles mature concept/proposal of God at its center.

Yes, in fact, any morality that comes from within is stronger than that which comes from an outside source. If you are living a good and decent life because you want to, because that is what you believe you should do, you are less likely to deviate from that path than if you are doing it because "GOD SAYS SO"

Most morals are universal - honesty, integrity, charity, etc. You don't need a religion to develop them.
What a religion does is to prepare you for what comes after death.

Of course. I'm a Christian, but have plenty of friends who are atheists, and have found them to be quite moral people.
