Do you believe Adam and Eve were real people as described in Genesis?

I just want to say Thank You!

I'm currently an atheist living an authentic life and I was driven away from religious belief because of people who believed in the adam and eve story.

I know theres a lot of people who kept saying one can believe in evolution and god, but the adam and eve people made the case for that not working out, and hence i've been able to see religious believe for what it really is, a big lie and pyramid scheme.

To be honest, I have mixed feelings about the creation account in Genesis. I think that perhaps it was written so that people back then could understand it. That's maybe why "yom" was translated into "day." It could have been ages. We just don't know how God did it.

I understand how people could drive a person from religion. It's happened to many. I was one of them!

But if you look towards man, you're ALWAYS going to be disappointed. If you depend on mankind's interpretations of everything from science to religion, you're going to find flaws in what they call reason.

So don't look to man. Look to yourself, and to God. If you do that, you'll find answers. I guarantee it.

Yes I believe the story is literal. If you believed in God somewhere along the line you forgot to recognize that He IS GOD and nothing is impossible for Him. You never really knew God personally. You only knew OF Him. And as far as men evolving from an animal, you mean to tell me that you believe an ANIMAL turns into a HUMAN? That's far more ridiculous than Adam and Eve. And the scientist themselves are stuck with a huge missing link that's because there is no link. An animal is an animal and a human is a human. I have seen and heard an animal talk (A PARROT) but never an animal changing into a human being. Maybe you should return to God where authentic wisdom thrives. I hope The Lord that created this universe will speak to your heart, amen.

Well, there are many ideas concerning Adam & Eve. One is this is a title of a class of people who come to start human (God-like) creatures on the various earths. Another is that since the male has the X&Y chromosome and the feemale only has theXX only a male can produce both and this is why Eve was born from Adam (a cecarean birth with the rib being removed and the now dorment breast of the male after he nursed her). Did Adam and Eve have belly buttons? It doesn't seem reasonable that only two people with Cain and Abel, theire wives, etc. (forgive my miss-spelling of certain words)

My answer has nothing to do with religion.
I believe Adam and Eve were real people (but not in the fairy tale sense the Bible presents them.)
DNA has proven every person on the planet is decedent from woman who lived 150,000 years ago. Its fact.
I believe even the pre-historic ancients knew this, and related the story down though the generations until finally coming out as we know it today.

Not an atheist.
Don't think Adam and Eve are literally true or that the Bible is the infallible world of God.
Also, if you read the Bible carefully, you'll notice that Satan is really the only entity that God has to kick things around with; who else would he trust to test Job and Jesus' faith?
Don't believe in the Rapture either.

Adam and Eve are totally imaginary. That destroys much of the basis for the religions that use Genesis. There is much proof of evolution but none for any gods or for Adam & Eve, Ask & Embla, etc.

Absolute affirmative. There's another little conjuctive mystery that occured after the fall. When the "Sons of GOD took to themselves wives from the daughter's of men" this was after Cain slew Able. I would take this as Gospel TRUTH. In a literal sense. That Adam and Eve were two literal people created in the IMAGE OF GOD . . . but we must take this in the light this later passage and what this means that "GOD's SPIRIT would not remain forever in men and they would live only 120 years" . .. you'll note that Adam and Eve were meant to LIVE forever . .. and that they were living near to a thousand years before this . .. We must learn how to read Scripture and pray over it and expect answers in GOD's time. . . some answers may never come . .. some may be answered in teh KINGDOM to COME but not on Earth . ..
You must be BORN AGAIN in the HOLY SPIRIT if you wish to see HEAVEN. . .. There is a mystery here . .. and more mysteries some which are yet unspoken . .. but all shall soon be revealed in the fulfillment of Scripture . ..

Also note that there are those who of their father the devil who was a murderer from the first . .. and there are those who are of OUR FATHER IN HEAVEN . .. those who do the will of GOD OUR FATHER abide in JESUS . ..

The fact of evolution is something the religious people dont want to accept because it makes their belief system worng and people dont want to hear that. Religion takes away individuality, reasoning, and authenticity.

Religious people dont want to question their religion, because they are taught not to, all they would say is ..."if you dont believe it it is the satan in operation within you". Its always fear injected, and all about hell and heaven.

I dont believe in Adam and Eve stories, it worked when i was a kid but now now, i did not want my intelligence taken away from me. My intelligence is mine and i wanted to use it.
It is hard for the religious to say my beliefs are wrong, its sad that they are conditioned to think that way.

maximum "christians", aside from the literalist fundamentalists sects, know Genesis as allegorical. that's the Jewish version of the creation delusion, of which each custom has one. So if not recognizing a literal Adam and Eve undermines each and every little thing else interior the bible, you is in deep doo-doo, even out of your fellow "christians. word on the "ransom". the assumption of "unique Sin", i.e. from Adam and Eve, isn't biblical. unique Sin replaced into invented by using Augustine someplace around 4 hundred CE. look it up. advantages on your adventure!

Yes they are real people. I used to not believe, but you can't argue with the facts!!! I mean do you think it is odd that earth is the only planet that supports life? And intelligent life at that. Everything in this cool place we call earth is designed to support life, The exact mixture of O2, argon, and all the other stuff to support us? I find it hard to believe that came from an accident?
