All inclusuve resorts for each are almost identical in price, so it's down to what each has to offer? Any input would be helpful.

They'll both be cozy in a resort.
I'd guess DR will have more international visitors, since some Americans might be more afraid to go there.
Cancun will probably be more USA'ans.
There's no reason to be afraid to go to DR, it's just less familiar than Cancun.

North coast of the Dominican republic Puerto Plata with a choice of more than 35 hotels/resorts , even 2 Boutique Hotels ( one is #1 in the world). Bigger beaches (new) a lot to do and visit, town with 300.000 souls....... pick your choice!
