To be honest with ya I am not sure. I know we use epsom salt on horses to take out the infection. But if your dog bad itchy skin that is scaly. I am not sure the epsom salt would work because salt tends to dry things out and you do nto want that. There would be a number of reasons that your dog is suffering this. My dog's skin would get like and I took her the vet and he said it was allergies. So he put her on an antibiotic and I have to gibe her a bath at least once a week using oatmeal shampoo. He would be have allergies or be having an allergic reaction to something. Did you do anything different with him. I am not certain but certain parasites I believe can cause this like demodex and ther eare others. So my best advice to you would contact your vet. Hope this helps.

Are you using a pH balanced shampoo when bathing the dog. Sometimes over bathing and using products that aren't pH balanced dry skin further and aggravate the problem. It is a great place to start. Good Luck to you and your pet!
