As AM says, Klipsch is a legitimate speaker company whose speakers do sound good. Bose is a scam. They are a low end product that is marketed and priced as a high end one. I sold Bose for over 10 years and never made a Bose sale to anyone who bothered to compare it to the comparably priced but much better brands we sold such as NHT, M&K, Monitor Audio, KEF, and Boston Acoustics.

David E's experience is quite different from mine. I bought some Quiet Comfort headphones for a daughter who was going to do a lot of air travel. A year after purchasing - the foam rubber ear cups were dissolving. I contacted the Bose store - and they wanted me to spend an additional $300 for another set. The ear cups were not replaceable at that time and they only offered a 90 day warrently. The speakers - well Bose used to do a road-show and did have an impressive demo of their small cubes. What they did NOT show you was about $5,000 worth of parametric equalizers and Krell amps that were working behind the scenes. A guy on a Fourm discovered this but was then escorted out of the Circuit City store when he wanted to return to the demo area and question the Bose reps about all the gear. Bose also sues any magazine that tries to print a review of their speakers. Try and find a review by a magazine before you buy. Bose does do more with a 4-inch tweeter than any other company. But there is only so much you can do with a 4-inch tweeter. Hope this helps.

See first be clear with what exactly you like. Whether you will be using it more for movies or music, and then comes what kind of space you have got and then the budget. Considering all these factors you need to decide. And as the other friends have told that Bose speakers are life style speakers, so that has to be considered only if you look out for some tiny solution but big sound in that definately the solution can be some brand like Bose. But if you have space and u like more quality than the brands there are lot of brands to consider like already said. Wharfedale, Kef, B&W, etc., But for all this you have to really have some patience and listen to different brands and make the decision because hearing is believing. Good luck. Happy Buying......

Klipsch is a true speaker manufacturer. Bose is a "lifestyle" company - they last good sounding product was made 20 odd years ago. Now they just design cute boxes.
Check out Klipsch, B&W, KEF, Mission, Warfdale - people who make speakers, not furniture makers.

I think the best value on the market to day is PSB Alpha 1. They are about $275 a pair, and sound great! Check out the reviews in Absolute Sound and Stereophile.

Bose will be OK in most applications if you like cheap quality. Klipsch will do as well, but wrap your ears around a pair of Legacy Phantoms. See link.

I personally think Bose is overrated... their sound is very clear and crisp but they don't have enough lower-end punch for me (and no, I'm not a bass-obsessed hip-hop listener). I'd go with Klipsch.
