(For insulting answers pls always add "for hindus" before qustion as i do in my questions, chamunda does and rajesh does)
i failed in mythology... got 3 marks out of 100.
so i will tell only some which i have idea, not mythological but spiritual and philosophical
Vishnu - Garuda garuda is a very fast, intelligent and active bird...an important one in food chain and to control the overwhelming population of poisnous snakes.... Vishnu preserves the universe so his work is quite similar
Shiva - bull : Bull is strong, innocent and careless animal.... shiva is strong, innocent and doesn't really care for anything...enjoying his creation
Shani - Crow is thought to be a bad omen bird. and shani brings bad luck. Crow is also vahan of Mother Dhumawati, one of the 10 mahavidays... who brings bad luck, widowhood, death of children and poverty...and shani is her spiritual son... hence the crow fits the best
Laxmi - owl... Laxmi...money when comes makes owl of a person... in hindu mythology owl is taken as idiot bird.... so jis par laxmi aa gayi woh ullu ban gaya ...LOL
Ganga - crocodile.... crocodile is literally a cleaner of water...he eats all the dead bodies in water..and is important for environment... Ganges cleans us of our sins
Durga- Lion lion is the king of animlas...strong cruel and fearless.... Durga is queen of all Shaktis she is strong and fearless.... there cant be other better vahan for her
Saraswati- Swan ... Swan or hans is thought to be the most intelligent bird..it is said hans drinks milk from a mixture of milk and water.. it may be a myth but it denotes hans is a bird with Viveka...and Saraswati brings viveka and gyan
Krishna wore peacock feather...(1) sign of beauty (2) also peacok is supposed to be the most romantic bird...

Gods Vehichles - Vahanas Hinduism - Celestial Vehicles, What do the Vedic deities symbolize? They represent the forces in nature as well as inside human beings. It's interesting that each deity has a particular vehicle on which he or she travels. These vehicles, which are either animals or birds, represent the various forces that he or she rides.
Symbolism of Gods & Goddesses
Each Hindu God and Goddess has many characteristics, like dress, 'vehicle', weapons, etc., that are themselves symbols of the deity's power. Brahma holds the Vedas in his hands, which signifies that he has the supreme command over creative and religious knowledge. Vishnu holds a conch which stands for the five elements and eternity; a discus, which is the symbol of the mind; a bow that symbolizes power and a lotus which is the symbol of the cosmos. Shiva's trident represents the three gunas. Similarly Krishna's flute symbolizes divine music.
Many deities can be recognized by the symbols associated with them. Shiva is often symbolized by the 'linga' or the three horizontal lines on his forehead. In the same way Krishna can be identified by the peacock feather he wears in his head and also by the prong-like mark on his forehead.
Vehicles of the Gods
Each deity has a particular vehicle on which he or she travels. These vehicle, which are either animals or birds, represent the various forces that he or she rides. Goddess Saraswati's vehicle, the graceful and beautiful peacock denotes that she is the controller of the pursuit of performing arts. Vishnu sits on the primal serpent, which represents the desire of consciousness in humankind. Shiva rides the Nandi bull, which stands for the brute and blind power, as well as the unbridled sexual energy in man - the qualities only he can help us control. His consort Parvati, Durga or Kali rides on a lion, which symbolizes mercilessness, anger and pride - vices she can help her devotees check. Ganesha's carrier, a mouse represents the timidity and nervousness that overwhelm us at the onset of any new venture - feelings that can be overcome by the blessings of Ganesha.-

Very good arguments have been made that any being worth of the call "deity" does no longer fall interior of an empirical area (see David Hume). If it truly is actual, medical atheism isn't a rational place, because of the fact it asks for evidence the place none can take transport of. yet, if God can not be shown to exist via technological awareness, meaning this form of being produces no measurable effect in area/time, meaning pronounced deity is beside the point whether it does exist.

All of the vehicles of God (not Shiva or Ganesha or Ganga or Durga or Saraswati. They are all servants of God. As far as Garuda is a servant of Vishnu that is His service. and Laxmi the Owl is Her Servant. She is the Supreme Goddess as is Radha to Krishna though Radha is Superior. Not my words Krishna's words in Gita. Krishna happens to love peacocks He even imitates them and dances with Sri Radha as peacocks. Krishna makes beautiful things for His pleasure. Though those things always existed. Peacocks, Garuda, all living entities. etc. Read Krishna Book by Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada (all of Krishna's pass times on krishnaculture.com (it is 10Th canto of SrimadBhagavatam.

All God's Vehicles are their devotees who expressed their wish to serve God by being always with them as a mean of their transport. Shri Krishna wears peacock feather and aum ji gave the best explanation for that. Whenever Shri Krishna needs vehicle Garuda came to serve him.

Because they need to get around somehow..
I took world religions a few months back & was rather amused with the Hindu religion especially with the presentation of several of the different gods & their "vehicles".
I doubt you would find much help here. I would advise you to do an endless google search or possibly go to the nearest public library since there tend to be mainly a bunch of devout Christians here. Unless, of course, if you know a Hindu or someone from Indian who is more familiar with the Hindu religion (even if they may be a Christian).
