The Lukewarm Church
“And to the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write,
‘These things says the Amen, the Faithful and True Witness, the Beginning of the creation of God: “I know your works, that you are neither cold nor hot. I could wish you were cold or hot. So then, because you are lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will vomit you out of My mouth. Because you say, ‘I am rich, have become wealthy, and have need of nothing’—and do not know that you are wretched, miserable, poor, blind, and naked— I counsel you to buy from Me gold refined in the fire, that you may be rich; and white garments, that you may be clothed, that the shame of your nakedness may not be revealed; and anoint your eyes with eye salve, that you may see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten. Therefore be zealous and repent. Behold, I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and dine with him, and he with Me.

To him who overcomes I will grant to sit with Me on My throne, as I also overcame and sat down with My Father on His throne.
“He who has an ear, let him hear what the Spirit says to the churches.”’”

If you want to hear the sorry state of the church as a whole, not including notable exceptions, then check out this weeks strongly recommended sermon on sermon audio.

America's Greatest Need
Brief Sermon Overview:As we celebrate our country's birthday, many Americans, as grateful as we are to live in this land of freedom and opportunity, are aware that in some critical areas, America seems to have lost her way. In fact, Christians can see some striking parallels between modern America and Israel and Judah before they were taken captive centuries ago. Perhaps no passage of Scripture speaks to our nation more directly than Jeremiah 2.
It is a powerful warning of impending judgement, and a call to national repentance.

The Laodicean mentality remains today. I am apalled at how prominent pastors regularly allow celebrities who are not living godly lives, who openly do not take a stand for Jesus Christ into their pulpits. Sermons about sin and repentance has been replaced by feel good Christianity which leads to lukewarmness. The Lord says the same thing to His people today. If you are hot, I will use you. If you are cold, I can deliver you. But because you are lukewarm and nauseating, you are not fit to do anything but be spued out of My mouth! No matter how evil the world becomes, and we know it will increasingly so, the Lord Jesus will always have His true Church that will run the race set before them and never faint.

I'm sure there are many people IN the church that are lukewarm Christians. However, it does not sound like the whole church. As Christians, we are constantly being led by the Holy Spirit to move closer and closer to Him, thus getting warmer and then, oh so hot! Those Christians who stop growing or who deny the Holy Spirit will be held responsible in the end.

Yes...the Church today, in America is too comfortable to strive for what they really need. The Church today is in need of a true revival from the Holy Spirit...not just a program called "revival". We must pray for the latter rain, because the end is near. I see my particular denomination very lukewarm as a whole--I have been asking for support for many outreach program ideas in California, but my requests have fallen on deaf ears for years. However, in Wisconsin, they did finally listen to me. They started an outreach mission to reach the Asian community there...and I must say that behind California, Wisconsin ranks #2 in population for Hmong people. Alleluia!

Yes it does.Very much so.
One evening while I was watching TV, a commercial came on. They were advertising something about some charismatic church. I was not paying any attention to what was on the TV. All of the sudden I nearly vomitted. I thought what was that all about out of nowhere I just about threw up. I heard a voice say "because they are lukewarm I will spew them out of my mouth".

No, it doesn't. The mainstream of Christianity is doing quite well.
The religious right is another matter. They have substituted a political ideology for the message of Christ.
Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
Its pretty obvious that the (misnamed" "fundamentalists" in America have chosen Mammon--their actions speak volumes and drown out their hypocritical rhetoric.

Sounds like the church today:
More important to be blessed (rich) then help poor, witness,or follow God's Word (the bible).

Another thought, I think the bible states that narrow is the path and few those that will make it. Or something like that, now when one thinks how huge christianity is does that seem to fit? Would it not be possible that ya'll mayhaps are a bit decieved?
