just open up office and go to options and you can stop it from loading up when you start your computer.

The reason programs start up when your turn on your computer is that you have a shortcut to them in your startup menu.

The majority of programs when you install them default to do that because they think that their program is important.

Go to your startup menu, (right click the start button in the bottom left corner, choose open, then choose programs, then choose startup, everything in there is a shortcut to auto launch programs.)

Basically, if it's something you don't want constantly running in the background delete it from there. It's only a shortcut not the program itself. You can still open the program anytime you want. The more you have running in the background the slower your pc is.

You need to leave things like your firewalls in there, they need to stay running at all times.

Also after you clean out your startup directory to only have what you absolutely need, run a defrag it will clean up your computer and speed it up even more, you should be running a defrag, scan disk and a spyware program at least once a week to keep your computer clean and maintained.

Just remove it from the Startup Menu.

Removing a Program From a Menu
To remove a program from a menu, follow these steps:
1. Click the Start button, point to Settings, and then click Taskbar and Start Menu.
2. Click the Start Menu Programs tab, and then click Remove.
3. Locate the program you want to remove, click the program, and then click Remove.

Note that this deletes the shortcut to the program on the Start menu, but it does not delete the program from your hard disk.

Yes, basically, my pc has the same issue.

But you just need to upgrade to windows vista.

Xp is starting to get way too many viruses.

You really need to get vista.
