*Is Catholic*
I am very excited. There is no 1962 Missal parish near by and I do not have indications that the local parishes have the need to restore the older form of the Mass. HOWEVER I am praying that this will start the process of putting to an end the banality that is present in so many parishes that have vernacular form of the Mass. Much of the way the new missal is supposed to be celebrated simply does not occur.
http://www.wdtprs.com is very good for information.
Meg M above is incorrect. The 1962 Missal is not prevented during Tridumm. What is prevented is a parish celebrating both forms during this time. In other words, a parish that is a 1962 parish can use the 1962 form of the Mass during Triduum. This is why:
In the Novus Ordo, as in the older days, there cannot be two Masses of the Last Supper on Holy Thursday, two Good Friday liturgies, or two Vigils. So, in this case, the ordinary takes precedence (www.wdtprs.com)

I think this is a new opportunity to experience the great diversity and variety that the Universal Church offers.
Here is the Pope's letter on the subject: http://www.vatican.va/holy_father/benedict_xvi/letters/2007/documents/hf_ben-xvi_let_20070707_lettera-vescovi_en.html
The Archdiocese of Los Angeles celebrates the Mass in the following languages of the people:
American Sign Language
Arabic
Aramaic
Armenian
Cambodian
Chinese (Cantonese)
Chinese (Mandarin)
Croatian
French
Garifuna (Ukrainian-Byzantine)
German
Haitian
Hungarian
Igbo
Indian
Indonesian
Italian
Japanese
Korean
Lithuanian
Native American Cultural Focus
Polish
Portuguese
Samoan
Slavonic
Spanish
Tagalog (Philippene)
Tongan
Ukrainian
Vietnamese
and
African-American Cultural Focus
Native American Cultural Focus
and, of course,
English
and now we can add Latin.
The issue of one prayer for the conversion of the Jews said once a year should be resolved without too much effort.
With love in Christ.

I am assuming that you are referring to the Motu Proprio of July 7, 2007. I think its wonderful and will do alot of healing.
It will allow for the "ordinary rite" the new mass to continue and at the same time reintroduce the "extraordinary rite" that has been practiced by the church for hundreds of years. It will bring back some stability in an age of wild liturgical reform.
Aren't we fortunate as Catholics to have such a great thing in the Roman Rite?
This will allow many catholics who are attached to the Tridentine Mass to return full circle. It will also increase the devotion and love in the church for the whole concept of liturgy.
Personally I think the real Vatican II reforms will now begin. If you read Vatican II's Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy, you will see that it was never intended to do away with the Tridentine Mass. It was never intended to do away with latin as the language of the church of the west.
I think the Church leaders have read the Constitution on the Sacred Liturgy and are now implementing its true goals.

I think what he's done is a beautiful thing!
I certainly wouldn't want to see the Novus Ordo Mass done away with. I think one can get so much more from the Mass when it's celebrated in your native language. However, bringing back the Latin Mass is a great example that there is room for all kinds of Catholics within the Church from the traditional Catholic Mass to the Charismatic Mass, and everywhere in between.

The action done by Pope is good for the follower and a reformation to a better end. Latin is not a religious language for christians nor the language of Jesus and Old Testament. If it was deleting original Hebrew text of bibles' original books from God and his prophets than it was really a great mistake.
As our friend has written about muslims. That is other case, their Quran is in Arabic and that is original text/ words of God. IT is translated but it cannot be neglected as original words in Arabic.

I don't think he relaxed the restrictions enough. Sadly, my bishop is hostile to that rite, and I don't expect to see many, if any, changes in my diocese.
EDIT:
I have removed most of my answer because I believe Liet is correct about my being incorrect. I bow to the superior knowledge of Fr. Z. Thank you, Liet.

WHICH DEED TO YOU REFER TO? THE LATEST, WHERE HE LAUGHINGLY PROCLAIMED "THE catholic CHURCH AS THE ONE TRUE RELIGION?
THE pope IS AN OFFICE WHICH IS HELD BY MANY DOWN THROUGH THE AGES. THE catholic CHURCH OPPOSED CHRISTIANS FORM THE TIME OF CHRIST. THEY CHANGED THE LAWS OF GOD, IN AS WITCH THEY PROCLAIMED SUNDAY AS THE SABBATH. GOD PROCLAIMED IT AS SATURDAY (SEVENTH DAY OF THE WEEK) IN THE TEN COMMANDMENTS. HE SAID, REMEBER.THE catholic CHURCH SAYS IT IS BY THEIR AUTHORITY AS GOD ON EARTH THAT THE CHANGE WAS INCORPORATED. . WHICH ALMOST THE WHOLE WORLD FOLLOWED. THE BEAST IS DESCRIBED AS A DECEIVER, WHICH FITS THE pope IN ALL CENTURIES PAST. READ, AMERICA IN PROPHECY BY E. G. WHITE IN WHICH THIS IS REVEALED., BETTER THAN I CAN INFORM YOU. GOD'S BLESSING TO THOSE WHICH SEEK THE TRUTH!
