The Special K challenge works. Although it works for the same reason that the Cheerios challenge or the Total challenge would work. If you replace lunch with a bowl of cereal (and some fruit) most people will end up consuming less calories- thusly they lose weight. So don't spend a lot on Special K when cheerios would work just as well.
Also their recommendation to eat two protein based snacks during the day is good. But their protein drink and their protein bar both taste nasty. Shop around and find a tastier replacement. I recommend Luna bars, but there are numerous others. Look for some with lots of protein and low calories overall.

When is this special occasion?
I would love to help you lose those 2 dress sizes and KEEP the weight off.
The special K challenge will not be something you can do for long - believe me I've tried it. I'm not saying you won't lose weight - you may do but I guarentee it will go back on.
Email me I would love to help you. If you live in UK!!
Best wishes

I agree with the person above me about why the Special K Challenge would work. However, I do not find something that is just puffed white rice (I'm assuming the rice is white), sugar and high fructose corn syrup healthy. It seems to be a great marketing gimmick, though. I just looked at the ingredients list for the Special K peanut butter bar. Four listings of different types of sugar (including corn syrup and high fructose corn syrup) and a listing of hydrogenated oil, with a claim that it contains 0.5% of trans fat. Well, that's 0.5% more of trans fat than what I want.
Cheerios, with whole grains and sugar is much better. Kix seems to be better, too, even though I just discovered that it has corn syrup in it. It irritated me because I read the box before purchasing it. Ugh. Since I have found corn syrup and/or high fructose corn syrup in every box of Kellogg's cereal that I have read, I will not buy them. Also, if the bars are anything like the South Beach bars or the Quaker oatmeal bars, they're probably tiny with just a few bites and would do little to sustain my hunger. (However, with me being pregnant, I don't stay full long anyway.)
Stick with healthy cereals and soy milk and whole foods. You might lose the weight, but once you replace the cereal with regular food again, you might just gain it back.

Please don't do it. The special K diet is there only to help one type of people and that is the owners of special K. Just think how much their sales go up when more people take up their challenge. They must double their profits whilst they sit back and watch the people faithfully starve themselves of the bodies nutrients it needs. Needless to say starving yourself will result in weight loss but I am pretty sure everyone can do that without Special K's help. Of course this causes long term problems and will result in you putting on more weight once you stop it.
My advice is to go healthy and give your body all the nutrients it needs no more no less. I have some more information on my blog and can recommend a couple of websites that offer better healthier alternatives that work better (I don't get paid for this info, just in case you thought I was a sales rep!).

No, but I've been thinking about it. I think I'll keep an eye on the answers you get and maybe that will help me make my decision too.
Good luck with your weight loss.
