It means you should not work on the Sabbath (keep the Sabbath). Everyone who works on the Sabbath (profanes it) will be put to death.

Just another people control rule from the past. Remember, there was no TV in those days, so stoning to death a sabbath breaker was a way to pass the time.

It means that those stiff necked people needed a firm word to keep them clear on the law for the Sabbath.

And we are no longer under the Law...so don't be using it as an excuse to do away with anyone who works on the sabbath.

And He did that to insist that they take a day of rest. Rest from all work ment not a finger be lifted to milk a cow, cook a meal, clean anything...rest with family, and rest in Him.

I would love to have someone make it a law to rest just one day a week.

I am afraid it means exactly what it says: It is a law that mandates the death penalty for working on or otherwise profaning the 7th day of the week, which is the "Bible" Sabbath.

Like much of the Bible's moral/ethical advice, it is useless, and has no application for today.

This was said to the Jews as part of the Law Covenant. Christians are not told to honor this law. Rather, they are told to honor the greater Sabbath.

Colossians 2:16 16Let not any man therefore judge you in eating, or in drinking, or in the matter of a festival or a new moon or Sabbaths, (ACV)

It means the level of civility about missing a Sabbath has improved a bit since the Bronze Age.

Jesus came to fulfill the law...We are not under those strict rules any longer....although they are a good guideline.

Back in Bible times no one was to do anything on the sabbath

We today honor and worship Jehovah every day. And we have a work to do every day...To help others come to know Jehovah God.

If the Bible says so, that's it.
If your friend works on Sabbath, you have moral obligation to kill him or her.
