"There is no fear in love, but perfect love casteth out fear because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfec in love."

Of forgiveness be not overconfident, adding sin upon sin. - Sirach 5: 5
There is an appointed time for everything, and a time for every affair under the heavens - Ecclesistes 3: 1 (Listen to the song Turn, Turn, Turn by the Byrds)
Hatred stirs up disputes, but love covers all offenses. - Proverbs 10: 12
A criminal does not escape with his plunder; a just man's hope God does not leave unfulfilled. - Sirach 16: 13
Dismiss not a sensible wife; a gracious wife is more precious than corals. - Sirach 7: 19
Delight not in telling lie after lie, for it never results in good.
- Sirach 7: 13
As you can see, i especially like the Book of Sirach. It is full of very sage advice. It is a pity that the non-Catholic Christians do not have that book in their Bible.
Thank you for asking this question.

You're going to need a lot of luck to find six good sayings in that book. And your confusing wisdom with dogma. You can live a good life by just following your innate desire to treat other living creatures as you would like to be treated, and sorry, Jesus did not make up the Golden rule either. I won't say he stole it, but it has been around since at least the time of Confucius. It is only natural. Too many people think they need this silly book in order to live a full, happy, moral and ethical life. That is the result of brainwashing, not common sense or decency.

This is an excellent question and as I am new to this Catholic Retreat Forum, I will endeavor to answer as best I can. I am certanly no bible schlar so please forgive my lack of technical expertise but here are a few of my thoughts, none the less.
For starters, I applaud your desire to learn from the Wisdom Books but please don't limit your self to only these readings if you are sincere about a bible study program. There is so much more to the bible than only these few books and I highly recommend you try to pick up a few good bible study books (Catholic approved) by such authors as Scott Hahn, Jeff Cavins or Jerome Kodell, OSB (author of The Catholic Bible Study Handbook) which is an outstanding introduction to Catholic Bible study & theology. These are only three names of MANY more who can guide you much better than I into the greater depths, beauty, heart and soul of God's word both Old and New testaments. As Scott Hahn says; "You've got to "go deep" in order to truly learn and grow in the Spirit of Christ.
After plenty of my own soul searching these past few months it has become abundantly clear to me that everything Jesus said and taught can be directly traced back to the 10 Commandments which nobody likes to hear about these days but we can't avoid the fact. God wants us - ALL of us and ALL of us to follow and the only way to follow Him is two - fold: 1) OBEY his commandments and 2) Love one another as he loves us. Even though the Commandments certainly did not come from the "Wisdom" Books as they were given to Moses on Mt. Sinai as recorded in the Book of Exodus (Chapter 20) they are the cornerstone and beginning of all true wisdom because they were given directly from God Himself to Moses and the rest of us. If you seek sincerely and diligently with love in your heart and soul for Jesus, following the 10 Commandments is truly the right thing to do and should not be as difficult as one might imagine. Over time, with prayer, the regular sharing of the Holy Eucharist at Mass, Confession and other Sacraments along with proper bible study, reading and guidence by the Holy Spirt, you will become one well rounded, true disciple of Christ filled with a deep well spring of faith, hope and love throughout your entire life.
The "Wisdom Books" are not the only books in the Bible with wisdom. The entire Bible is filled with wisdom for those who earnestly seek it. As Jesus Himself said: "Seek first the Kingdom of God and His rightousness...Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened unto you. For everyone who asks , receives and the one who seeks, finds; and to the one who knocks, the door will be opened." (Matthew Chapter 7) But this requires hard work, steafast prayer and diligence of spirit which many people are sorely lacking these days because we live in a "Me first" world and what most of us forget is the FIRST COMMANDMENT: Thou shall have no other gods before ME. That means everyTHING and everyBODY else should be second to God (meaning Jesus) in our lives. Everybody breaks this commandment to some degree or another every day of our lives. Any time we put something or some one else above God we break this commandment. That's why I confess it everyt time I go to confession.
The Blessings of Wisdom (Proverbs: Chapter 2: 4-11): "If you seek her like silver and like hidden treasures search her out: Then will you understand the fear of the Lord; the knowledge of God yu will find; for the Lord gives wisdom, from his mouth come knowledge and understanding; he has counsel in store for the upright, he is the shield of those who walk honestly, guarding the paths of justice, protecting the way of his pious ones. Then you will understand rectitude and justice, honesty, every good path; For wisdom will enter your heart, knowledge will please your soul, discretion will watch over you; understanding will guard you. Saving you from the way of evil men, from men of perverse speech, Who leave the straight paths to walk in ways of darkness, who delight in doing evil, rejoice in pervisity; Who's ways are crooked and devious their paths."
This wasn't exactly 6-10 examples as you asked for but I hope my respone has given you or someone else reading a little bit of "spiritual food for thought" and if so, thank you Lord Jesus for letting me share the truth of Your Holy Word with others. Amen.
