Will the end come with all sides shaking hands and saying "This is a new start in Iraq and the future looks Great". "OR" .....Will we stay for a few more years then pull out like we did in Vietnam and then walk in shame?

We will never win!! Our President makes to many excuses for why we need to stay there. I think he's milking it so he doesn't have to be the President to call off the war like they did with Vietnam. It will be over when we get a new Pres.., to bad not sooner!! Like they say all over the t.v. " This war is UNJUSTIFIED"

the region that is now Iraq, has many different tribes and political and religious groups. Many of these have been at war at some point for over two thousand years. America will find it very hard to bring peace to all sides happily. It is possible that the country of Iraq will break up, into two or more countries, perhaps even being absorbed by one of its neighbours.
the US government will likely pull out long before any true peace is found. Politics is just as bloody as war. And bringing home too many dead, will see an end to any administration. So they will look for an easy out, without loosing face, or dare i suggest OIl. . I hope somewhere peace will be found. that will give the people of Iraq, food, good health and a safe happy place to live.

It will end when the Iraqis start pulling thier own security.

That post above is off base because we are not here for the same reasons we were in Vietnam. So how are we repeating it? We are not in the buisness of stabilization, it's not what we do well. That is the only part that wasn't planned for. We should have pulled out once we finished what we came to do, but we waited too long and got caught up in the insurgency that was allowed to fester. Hardly comparable to Vietnam.

The Iraq conflict would have ended the day Obama took workplace. In truth, it would have ended lengthy earlier than Obama took workplace. In truth, it must by no means had been began. The conflict in Afghanistan, alternatively, used to be a legitmate conflict with a reliable target. That target used to be to kill bin Laden and that occurred virtually a yr in the past. The adults accountable have now all started winding down that conflict. It will finish quickly ample. BTW, Obama's now not even part approach by way of along with his Presidency.

The Iraq war ended a long time ago. The current conflict is just an insurgency and localized terror hot spot.

perhaps you are aware that after the US pulled out of vietnam, stopped meddling in their affairs, they have developed into one of the strongest economies in southeast asia. thing i remember most about vietnam (after the death and destruction) is the poverty and hunger. there is still poverty and hunger to an extent (hell, there's poverty and hunger right here in the beautiful little city in america) but it's nothing like those days. i've been back to see.

when the US pulls out the iraqi people will be able to start on the long road to recovery.

First, Cheney will be forced to resign. Then Bush will be threatened with impeachment and resign. With a new president in office, we'll get out of Iraq and end our unnecessary and badly managed involvement.

Gee...sounds just like the end of the Nixon mis-administration and the close down of the Viet-Nam mis-adventure.

How did we allow the mess to repeat itself?????

As in Vietnam, we will retreat, as we did in Korea. The stupidity lies in the fact that Bush can not understand guerilla (terrorist) warfare. We are behaving like the redcoats did in America....it is a war where normal tactics do not apply. There is no new start. We created the problems in Iran and Irag by funding Saddam and Bin Laden and the old Shah. We prostituted ourselves for oil and now the fleas are biting us.

US will leave then Bush is voted out, Iraq will either fall into civil war, or will be taken over extremists...i would like to think that democracy would just fill the void created by the US, but sadly, gun fire speaks loudest...
