The problem is that you don't want to be told what to do and when to do it. If the government did all it could to protect the environment, the environment would be protected; on the other hand freedoms and rights, civil liberties, and choices would be impinged upon. The government would have to fingerprint the litter and chase down the cold case litter. The government would impose so many rules and regulations your right to pursue happiness would no longer exist. You would have to live in a clean environment with no rights. You would have guards watching your behaviors to see if you dirty up the environment. The only way around it is to be a Capitalist. If private industry capitalizes on the environment, the environment would be kept clean and healthy because the money involved would motivate the work. It is one way or the other really, government or private industry. It is the same argument for the security of the country, if the government produces all the security officers and security rules the people will have no freedom; if private enterprise produces security or clean environment programs the choices to change will remain a part of enterprise not a part of the law. It would be like going to school in a school that stations a monitor every one foot from the other and armed guards at every door and locker, NO FUN.

As a group or community, it is possible to Co-op and create environmental programs in a private enterprise that is non-profit or that does not focus on profit but on clean environment issues. The more the citizens can take charge, the less the government has to step in. No one wants the government to run the roost.

Beginning to do a bit, but not enough. Waste would be much less if manufacturers were forced to finance reduction or recycling of packaging which is excessive and often costs more than the product.

Stop looking to governments to take care of you from cradle to grave.

If you see someone throw out a hamburger wrapper make him pick it up!

Climate change can not be altered by humans. We do not have the power to alter mother earths will.
