I found that a botanist normaly could tell you where a particular plant lives, what it thrives on, and things like that, but that they couldn't tell you how to grow them... well, i enjoy growning a lot, and i was wondering what i should major in if i wanted to develop my herbal.

ok.. so maybe i can ask this question... what is the difference between botany, horticulture, and ethnobotany?

Study horticulture and take the Master Gardener course.

This is just a guess, but seems to me agriculture would be a good major to get into. I like herbal plants also, and I wish more doctors would go into this field., There are so many plants which can help heal people, a lot more than chemical things. Right now I and my family are enjoying the benefits of chorella. Mom is in her 80's and she is enjoying renewed energy. Energy she didnt have 3 months ago. I can tell I am feeling better also.

I think you're talking to the wrong botanists. If they don't know how to grow the plants they're talking about, then they're not really botanists. ...but that's besides the point.

Do you know about horticulture, or ethnobotany? Check it out.

Major in agricultural studies ... they should have classes in 'botanical' subjects and also in 'zoological' subjects and you should be able to 'choose' only the 'botanical' subjects if that is what you want to 'go into' ... and since you are interested in growing 'herbs' you should learn A LOT from those classes.
