hey hey

apply no matter what, your goign to be doing all the applications anyway, in the end its not that big of a deal if you lost a few nights doing an extra application. Stanford is really hard though, I have friends with 800 on SAT subject tests and 2370 SAT and didnt get in, but there are def people who did get in who didnt have that. Colleges are so much harder now though, I wanted to go to Brown and I had a 4.5 cummulative and 32 ACT and I didnt get in. Retake the ACt, with writing, since they are easier for ppl who do better in science/ math, and get your score up a little. Its tough but the one thing we learned is that in the last year colleges have just flipped and people who have perfect scores aren't good enough, and no one can figure out what is.

good luck though, apply anyways! its going to be really hard esp under mech. engineering, if Stanford is like a dream school you'd have a better chance applying under a random major, but I learned in the last year that what I thought I wanted really wasn't the best.

good luck!!

It never hurts to dream and to apply. Your SAT is low for a place like Stanford, and your GPA is low given the number of AP classes you've taken, but you certainly have plenty of activities, and you never know what they might be looking for at any particular moment.
