This is going to be long so sit back lol
I've noticed, after using Yahoo answers for a while now that when some people come on here and ask for a little advice or reassurance, they get attacked with remarks and horrid comments. for example, i was reading a question the other day about how to stop a dog from whining when its outside and suddenly people are going LET THE DOG INSIDE, YOU ARE SO CRUEL WHY WOULD YOU KEEP IT OUT?
i feel that this sort of comment is not only unnecessary but a clear lack of knowledge. the dog was obviously a large dog which was not suited to be inside and would probably dirty the house, which the owner kept so hard to clean. and people are suddenly just attacking him about how he shouldnt own a dog if he cant take care of it. which brings me to another point....i dont know about you but i hate it when people think that you shouldnt have a dog if you can't fend for it. people have know idea what the asker's life is like and they are saying that the dog des

erves better owners. for example, some people leave their dogs at home and their dog barks when they leave, which is expected since the dog misses you. people who answer the question just start to go on about how you shouldnt leave your dog all by itself, it will get lonely and its cruel to leave it at home because it can cause mental damage! i was like WTF!
last of all, i want to say something about people always telling people to take their dogs to the vet. this time i will use an example of my own. my dog was a little less energetic and he is a jack russell and i was saying "i'm a little worried because my dog always wants to sleep". i explained that he just walks around the room doing nothing. then people are saying TAKE IT TO THE VET it is probably really sick!!!
well it turns out he just ahd nothing to do once i got a tennis ball out and started playing with him, he was fine again. basically, what i am trying to point out is pople's prejudice opinions of other people when they ha

ve no bloody idea what their life or situation is like. people treat their dogs better than they treat themselves. taking them to the vet for no apparent reason, just because it got hit in the *****en face by an incompentant owner!
i guess thats all i have to say. why people always give prejudice and stupid, unnecessary opinions/comments on things they dont know about.
i am prepared to take all opinions, even those against what i believe
thanks

I think often a big part of the problem is people don;t really explain what they are asking. If someone just says "my dog is just laying around not eating" etc how can you know what is going on? Usually then I will ask for more details and come back and edit my answer later if they do update it.
If someone says their dog has bloody diarrhea and is throwing up come on even a 10 year old should know it needs to go to the vet. It is against the law in many places not to obtain aid for a very sick animal.
If it's just been for a very long walk though it may well just need to lay around and relax for a while.
I don;t agree with dogs being left outside all the time. Some dogs love to be out during the day, but they also need time inside with the family to be loved and to give love. There is no way I will ever agree with someone saying they leave a 4lb Chihuahua outside 24/7, but a bigger dog who has a run with shelter, food and water sure why not for a couple of hours at a time if they enjoy it. If they bark non stop though chances are they really are not enjoying it an the neighbours do have a right to complain. Especially if they are shift workers and the dog is out barking every minute they can sleep. I certainly don't buy the idea a large dog should not be inside the house because you have spent a long time cleaning it.
Overall I think most people try to be as helpful as they can. The ones who want to be rude I ignore. If you don;t play into their hands by getting all upset then they stop doing it.

I understand where you're coming from, but I don't neccessarily agree.
I don't believe that ANY dog, large or small should be left outside unless they'd rather be there than in the house. All of my animals are inside animals, except for my 3 100-150 pound turtles that spend night time inside, and daytime outside. They'd rather be outside, but its just too cold. My dogs (3 lb, 60 lb, 75 lb, and 100 lb.), however, like to be inside. Most dogs do. Sure, they make a mess, they drool, they shed, they chew. THATS WHAT DOGS DO! So when people say that others "Shouldn't keep a dog outside," they're pretty much asking why someone got a dog in the first place if they weren't comfortable with the behaviors and responsibilities that come with pet ownership. I would never feel comfortable having an animal that wasn't an important enough part of my life to let inside, and I don't know how anyone else can.

I would feel very hurt and angry if I was the girlfriend. I'd feel like it showed him to be a WEAK man because he can't get the courage or backbone to keep his ex-wife in line. If HE can't do it then surely the courts can. There are always solutions. She can't keep acting like a drama queen and making his or his children's lives miserable just because she has some misplaced jealousy. He needs to step up, be a man, and deal with his ex wife. I agree with you...he knew what she was like before proposing to his gf. So, now that he knows....why would that, in any way, change his feelings about his gf? It shouldn't have any bearing. YEs, it will make things a bit more difficult but it shouldn't make him not want to get married to her. They obviously have some issues that need to be resolved and it's better that the gf find out about this NOW. If I was the gf, I would take a step back, really take a hard look at the situation and him and re-assess whether or not I could live with all the baggage that comes with a life with him.

I agree with you that too many people jump to conclusions about people and their pets. And the rudeness displayed on this site makes me angry. I asked if anyone knew of a way to relieve my gassy puppy. People accused me of not feeding him properly! And you know what the problem was? I was feeding him a top quality food and he wasn't used to it yet, since he was a rescue dog and had only ever been given crap food!! argh!!!
When it comes to the vet thing, I disagree with you. Over the internet we have no way of diagnosing a pet for someone. The only person who is qualified to do that is a vet. If a person notices that their pet is not acting themselves, there are numerous conclusions that people can come to. True, some may just be bored or something like your dog, but some could really be sick. I think what people are trying to do is just be cautious. We want to encourage people to seek care for their animals when it is necessary.

You have to realize that MANY of the answerers are kids, and they feel strongly about many things that they don't know much about.
They are just spouting what they feel, and it is comforting to me to see that they are so against anything that they deem as neglect or cruelty. It gives me hope for the future, when they can actually temper their feeling with practical knowledge.
Meanwhile, my heart goes out to the askers that they do insult.
The kids haven't developed social graces yet, but use this forum as a way of expressing their feelings, here, where everyone is equal..Ya gotta admit, that teens and kids don't generally really get listened to! So, this forum gives them that outlet and ears to hear.
Others that answer rudely, are just kids that never grew up to acquire diplomacy and/or social manners .
Edit: your comment about leaving dogs alone... So much depends on the breed, and many people acquire breeds that are not suited to their lifestyle. The companion breeds have been bred as nothing but companions. They will stress excessively if left alone for consistent 8-9 hour days. Stressing lowers the effectiveness of the immune system, and does cause physical issues, and mental instability, just as in humans.

Many people don't give enough information and are not specific, yet want free medical and/or behavior advice. There are way too many people who get a pet and then don't want to provide proper care. And then, of course, there are the adolescents who type long, rambling, incoherent statements without punctuation, using their spellchecker, or proper English....

lol that was long, Ive never really thought about it that way, I must admit, I do say take your dog to the vet or call your vet, and or the dog training classes, I think I say that because I treat my dog like a baby and thats what I would do in that kind of situation, ^_^"
Ppl can be very rude on here, I dont like that at all, and most of them do jump to conclusions about ppl and their pets. But, thats just human right?

I agree. My dogs stay out during the day in a kennel while I am at work and they are not mistreated in the least bit. I also don't take them to the vet just because they act a little funny.

I believe that Yahoo Answers is a place for freedom.
You've got the freedom to ask any question you wish, no matter how racist, immature, stupid, or logical it may be.
You've got the freedom to answer the questions however you wish, no matter how sarcastic, wise, short, long, or rude.
And you've got the freedom to complain about the answers and questions, no matter how obvious, annoying, or head-nodding.
See? All three parties you mentioned are winners.
