I once heard a quote similar to this, and I was wondering what people thought, especially non-christians, but everyone is welcome. If everyone who said they were a Christian tried to be the loving moral person they were called to be, wouldn't a lot more people be attracted to Christ?

For those who are Christians, no we will never be perfect, but we need to work against hypocracy first in our own lives and then in our churches.

I like Pamala's quote.

I'm glad Sumon... answered, even if I don't agree with everything he said. But first, why do you have to assume that forgiveness means pardoning everyone? Sometimes to forgive is *not* to forget as people so often say, especially if they haven't repented. Forgiveness is more like letting it go with in you, not staying angry. Now, mercy does often accompany forgiveness, but I don't see that they are the same thing. Also, as much as I would like the US and other nations to come to God, I don't know if we can say it is a Christian nation anymore and equate its crime rates with this topic.

Surely the whole world would not be Christian.

You know that many will find the wide path to Hell. I believe that God will give everyone multiple chances to bear fruit before giving up. You need faith that he knows what is right. Not everyone will bear fruit.

I do believe, however, that we would sure save a lot more.

It is always best to clean your own house before you complain about how dirty your neighbors is. Your relationship with God should be your main concern.

Though, this is a forum. When asked a question, we have no choice but to answer in Truth.

Some get turned away from the bad fruit that comes up out of a Christians heart. We are all sinners, but we are all faithfully trying and listening to God every day.

May God Bless you, but moreso God Bless those who are hostile towards him through ignorance, that they may behold his Glory.

If all Christians allow the life of Christ to live through them (Galatins 2:20) and be in Christ where all the old things have passed away and all things become new (2 Cotinthians 5:17) the world will be a better place to live in. Christians will then not be part of the problem but part of the solution to the woes of the world. Christians are not expected to be perfect in themselves but by grace they are perfect in Christ Jesus (Collosians 1:28) and by grace as Jesus is so are all Christians in this world ( 1 John 4:17).

I agree. But most people forget what Christ was really like. He was a very controversial figure. He hung out with people of different races & economic levels. He healed people on the Sabbath day making Him a law-breaker. He saved an adulterous woman from being stoned as the law called for. Being a Christian doesn't mean walking around with a halo around us. Sometimes it means going against the flow of the politically correct. Sometimes it means standing up for what's right instead of what's popular. Sometimes it means calling a sinner a sinner. If we take time to work out everything in our own lives until we are perfect enough to go out & try to save the world then nobody will ever be saved. Those who are looking for perfect people to bring the Word of God to them are using that as an excuse not to hear & not to believe because they don't want to change. I heard a saying one time that has really stuck with me. It went something like this. "Why don't you go to church?" "Because there are too many hypocrites there." "That's ok, there's always room for one more." We all have struggles, we all have vices. As long as we are human we will battle these things, saved or not.

The same Son that melts the butter, hardens the brick. When Jesus Himself was here, everyone that He preached to or came in contact with, did not believe, and no one could act any more Christian than He did.The sad fact of the matter is some are going to be lost, their hearts are too hard to accept the Gospel. There will always be those that call themselves Christian, while in practice they are not. There will also always be those who do not respond to the Gospel message. God bless!!

"If everyone who said they were a Christian acted like a Christian," How does a Christian act? Admittedly most of us try to emulate Jesus to the best of our ability, but some of us have a few more sins to overcome and fail on a daily basis at least.

Even if they did act like jesus, what did the people do with him? They crucified him. People are sinners, they want to control themselves, their lives, and their destiny to the exclusion of God.

Of course if all men acted like Jesus, sin would never have been an issue in the first place, which would mean that we'd still be enjoying a life of luxury in eden.

The problem with christianity is the judging of others. The love and sharing in the churches is wonderful, The singing joyous. The underling judgment in the church, not joyous.

The fallen one has cleverly snuck into the church and through the pretense of love he has made many christians feel it is ok (to some even a duty) to judge others If you find yourself judging others try to stop, that is the fallen one leading you, not father.

I think if you play semantic games, then you could say everyone is a Christian. But I don't think, by a common definition of Christian, that your statement is true. I mean, beyond just acting, they often stress an inner spiritual state or relationship to Christ (that non-Christians wouldn't particularly have).

Its the exact reason of loving, forigiving which infact causes problems & division, if u keep forgiving a person then that person will carry on sinning & not realising, while the ppl who forgive that person just keep forgiving & dont stamp their authority, sometimes being too nice & caring gets u NOWHERE, you be too nice, too caring & people will walk over u, take advantage of good natured people, then all that forgiving, caring , loving etc means nothing if ppl dont realise, dont listen & think of it as a easy way out to keep being bad & sinning, sometimes u cant be too forgiving, cant be too caring, etc u have to be hard sumtimes & stamp your authority, u have to make an example sometimes to show other ppl that doing whatver they do will not always go unpunished, where has foirgiving got the Christian world? look at the crime rate in Christian nations, rape, theft, fraud, etc is all high compared to Muslim nations, Islam came about to show ppl the right way, to show store the original Abrahmaic faith, because before ppl were changing laws of relgion, etc so God brought down Islam through Prophet (Messenger) Muhmmad (Peace Be Upon Him) to restore the Original Abrahamic faith, the Koran has never been changed like the Bible has, ppl have manipulated the laws of God, prophet Jesus (PBUH) Prophet Moses (PBUH) so during the centuries ppl lose faith in Christianity as they didnt know what was the true message of God (True, right genuine messages, laws) & what was the message of the people who changed the laws, (false messages, teachings), no matter what people think of Islam & Muslims, (terrorists etc) which of course is false but no matter what ppl think of Islam & Muslims at least their morals, principles, passion, courage, self-respect is always there, thats why like i stated, crime, rape, affairs, abortions, babies out of wed lock, thefts, drugs, alchol, etc is way less in the Islamic Muslim world then the Christian world, if some ppl r weak minded then dont make it easier for them by forgiving them all the time, make it hard for them, show example, stamp authority, show childrean that sinning, bad things etc wont be tolerated, they try to make sure the next generation of Muslims know the rules of God, God's laws so they dont commit sins, In Islam they also forgive, but forigive one who repents, who shows remorse, who learns, u cant forgive, teach one who does not learn & does not want to be taught or forigiven, it gives wrong signs, wrong signals & ppl still keep sinning. the evidence is there to make ur own conclusion. PEACE".

a astonishing letter it is crammed with actuality. My heart is going out to those that detest and their sufferers. we are all sinners and we are all to handle our fellow guy with the comparable kindness, tolerance and persistence as God has shown in the direction of us. God has given us a warning as to what is going to take place if we harden our hearts with hatred in the direction of others... Romans 2:3-4 So once you, a trifling guy, bypass judgment on them and yet do the comparable issues, do you think of you will get away God's judgment? Or do you coach contempt for the riches of his kindness, tolerance and persistence, no longer understanding that God's kindness leads you in the direction of repentance?
