I took frozen chicken out of the freezer to get something from the back. Two hours later I looked in the garage and chicken was setting out thawed. If I refreeze it and cook it right is it dangerous?

The U. S. Dept. of Agriculture (USDA) advises, "Meat and poultry defrosted in the refrigerator may be refrozen before or after cooking. If thawed by other methods, cook before refreezing." (Basics for Handling Food Safely, April 2003 at www.fsis.usda.gov/OA/pubs/facts_basics.pdf )

(DO NOT thaw meat at room temperature, such as on the kitchen counter)- since this is what you have done it would probably be best to be safe and throw it away.

you are able to freeze the two way as long as you seal the beef good, to defrost, run below chilly water until that's defrosted. Thawing potential to bypass from a frozen to liquid state, yet is commonly used to consult defrosting meats and different ingredients

Since it was two pounds I bet it was still pretty cold after two hours. If so, it should be fine to put it in the fridge and cook it later. If it became room temperature you would be flirting with salmonella, which is not fun.

Won't probably kill you or anything, most likely because its still mostly frozen in the center. To be on the safe side, however, you might consider letting it finish defrosting, then grilling it. You can re=freeze after the cooking process if you want.

if it's already thawed out, refreezing it and then cooking it isn't recommended. there should be a label on the package that says "do not refreeze after thawed."

cook it the first chance you get. Yes you can put it in the fridge in the meantime. Just smell it and make sure you don't smell anything bad, which is often the sign of bacteria growing in it. The safest bet would be to toss it.

probably because the bacteria has had a good chance to grow, best to cook it now and either eat it or freeze cooked to eat another time. never re-freeze raw meats.
