ABSOLUTELY!!! I have alot more male friends than I do female friends. And believe me they are only friends I would never jeopardize my friendship for sex or a relationship.

Of course. Some of my best friends are guys.
Often, one will start to have feelings for the other. And this can end in heartbreak. But that's a possible scenario, not a definite scenario.
However, it's still entirely possible to have close platonic friends of the opposite sex.

My experience, generally no. For me this was almost always a form of denial. I was fooling myself and trying, sometimes unsuccessfully, to fool the woman I was trying to get. This was also true for friends of mine who were involved in things like this. There's a lady at work who's like 30 years older than me and I talk to her at work kind of like a mother. But if we had too many one-on-one lunches together it would start to feel wierd.
I think we all know what boundaries not to cross. One-on-one time is a big one. I think romantic feelings automatically develop, wether we want them to or not when too much time is spent together on a one-on-one basis. There are no rules though. We just know when it starts to feel like a romance. It's when we're interested in denial when the rules become important. Like we can hang out all the time but if we don't do anything sexual then it's not a relationship and just friendship. Or, if the woman pays for half of the meal it wasn't a date.
So, listen to your heart. YOU know when it's starting to feel like something.

yeah, I have two girl friends, and I talk to them very often and talk to them secrets or things like that, because I don't feel any physical attraction to them...so yes a guy and a girl can just be friends...
but I also have other girl friends to whom I really feel attracted and would like to date some day

yes it is possible to just be friends but if you think anything of each other it will probably lead to other things, basically what is a marrage, you are partners, you are best friends besides loving each other

Yes girls and guys can be friends and talk all the time (a best friend). SOMETIMES THERE IS JUST ALITTLE MORE. YOU CAN JUST FEEL THE CHEMISTREY.
