Sealants are a wonderful form of preventive dentistry. For the sealant to stay on the tooth, the dentist or assistant must make sure the tooth is completely dry of saliva. Not an easy thing on 2 or 3 year olds. Remember sealants are usually only done on molars, so the two year old may not even have his/her second molars in yet.
By FAR, more cavities in kids mouths start in between their teeth, especially their molars. So be sure to floss them (just like you should be doing your own) as soon as they will let you.

If necessary, the dentist can place sealants on the teeth. Let the dentist determine whether or not sealants are needed first. Sealants are to seal up slight grooves in the teeth that can lead to cavities, if the "grooves" are not present sealants are unnecessary.

sealants are fine, if they are cooperative in a dental chair at that age. i would consult with a GOOD pediatric dentist. it may be unecessary to do sealants until the adult teeth start erupting; i.e. at 6 years of age and forward

I just got sealants and I'm 16. Apparently they're harmless to the body. They just block the grooves....I don't think there's an age limit

Not at all. Sealants are mostly used on children, so your kids would be just fine getting them. Just bring it up at their next visit.
